Play with your kids!
Then.....play with them again, & again, & again, & again, & again.....NOTHING is more important for both you, & them right now, especially right now.
You cannot change your wife, only she can change herself.
You cannot MAKE your marriage better, you can only make you better, the other half will always be her responsibility.
If she chooses to change than great, if she doesn't then what? You wasted tons of energy on a pointless situation you NEVER had control of.
Stop drinking, obviously NOBODY likes an alcoholic, not her, not your kids, and apparently not even yourself. Is it really making you happy?
No! All it's doing is giving you a false sense of content.
Had you not been leaning on that all along, it's likely that you'd have already corrected this situation long ago.
You drink because you're not happy, right?
Well, guess what....unless you're pissed, fed up, burnt out, and over the BS, you're not gonna do anything to change anything.
Because it's easier to get a slight buzz and pretend it's all okay for the night, only to wake up and realize you're nightmare started the minute you opened your eyes.
You NEED to hurt, you NEED to get mad....it's healthy, & far more productive than artificial alcohol induced bliss.
Everything you do in life starts with a first step.
So take a day or two to yourself, & really figure out what YOU want.
If you want the marriage, then plan out JUST your first step in that direction, worry about planning step two after you've executed and completed step one.
Share these goals with her AFTER you've completed a few things. But DO NOT count on her support yet, be prepared for her to minimize your efforts.
If you don't want the marriage, then plan that first step in that direction. Be prepared to lose your kids, & pay support, but fight for the opposite. Don't wait for the blow prepare for both now. If this is your plan, keep your mouth shut and just start changing yourself for the better.
Don't reveal your hand to anyone. In the meantime, start looking for things to do with the kids EVERYDAY!
Go to the park.
Go for a walk.
Go see a movie.
Go do anything they think is cool.
Go visit family.
Find anything they like, & do it as often as possible. If she sees you guys having a great time, & there's anything there she'll eventually want to go too.
Hope some of this helps man!
But honestly only you know what is going to help. I sense the issue is that you've become so complacent it's easier to just drink a few and push the effort of for later.
Just know that you're only hurting yourself in the long run.
