At the moment I'm using my MXR micro amp to beef up/bring up the gain of my bass collection p bass. It does it well, but I want to know if there are any better options for this? ideas please

any preamp/booster better than MXR micro amp?

Depends what you mean. There are TONS of boosters on the market. Some are smaller than the MXR. Some have lower noise. Some have "better tone" (totally subjective). Some have a better bypass switch. Some have more tonal options. Some have more gain. Some cost a lot more.

if you want the same sound with a bit of eq flexibility, MXR has the Micro Amp Plus out now with bass and treble eq controls.
I love the Radial PB1 Booster. Very transparent with tons of available boost.
Not really a preamp though, but amazing uncoloured boost.

better tone, something that'll retain the lows and have them nice and thumpy, good scooped sound, and crispy highs.
I would have to mention I run the micro amp after my boss TU3 tuner, and run into a bugera bvp500. The shaping on that is amazing, but wanting to shape my signal abit more before it gets to the amp.. if that makes sense

i'm thinking about getting the cae boost/linedriver or the mxr bass preamp to boost my sound. you guys have any opinion on which i should get. i want a clean boost.
I'm really pleased with both my tech 21 bass driver deluxe and my vt bass. The darkglass b7k should have tons of potential too.
Check out the Source Audio Programmable EQ.... I just ordered one myself for the express purpose of helping me bring my P to life in the mix. It also is able to achieve a clean boost as well as being what sounds like a bad a** EQ and is bass friendly with the octave extender.
I will also echo the B7K for a preamp as it has a great EQ and can boost your signal as well. With that said though, Ill still be using the SA PEQ for the parameters it will be providing.
