Anybody else afraid of any forums here?

While not any fourms specifically, i have learned to just skip certain topics whenever and wherever they show up. I have opinions and experiences that may prove helpful, but i’m not dogmatic about anything so i’ve learned to not kick certain turds on certain warm days, and so far i’ve been lucky enough to go where i want when i’m in need of advice or may have some wisdom to share; i just don’t chime in on select topics which require groupthink so i won’t be flayed for expressing an opinion contrary to the immutable known truth of those things.

Do you have any advise on identifying "certain turds"? That could be helpful, especially for me.

This is a take on northern new mexico, southern colorado folk lore;
A recommended solution to those bothered by ghosts, is to wear your clothes inside out so the ghosts won't recognize you.
I use that tidbit, if some one points out my sweat shirt is inside out, I tell the folklore story, and add, I ain't afraid of no ghosts, but I'm not taking any chances.
So wear your band tee inside out, and think "I'm not ascreaked of no posts, but I ain't taking any chances."

I don't suggest tings I'm not an expert on, most stuff.
Back when I joined, TB was infested with trolls, and I had to punch back just like kid stuff on the playground. Dodge City has been cleaned up.

I'm not scared, but I've had a couple of creepy stalkers who followed me around TB, one who quoted me, changed the language and then reported me. Dumb@$$ that he is, he didn't realize that the database keeps copies of all posts and updates so the moderators were able to check that I hadn't actually violated the rules.

I had another guy on the forum from New York that went on line, did a search on my screen name and found some work related articles that I'd written, then insinuated that there was something wrong with me because I have an actual job. I guess it's better to sponge off your wife than to have a real job. That's even creepier when someone follows you off the forum.

Most of the people on the forum are nice; some are not nice, but not bad people; then there are a few straight up psychos.

Yeah, Band Management is the one I've learned to steer clear of. You post anything over there and someone will tell you you're a horrible person for talking trash about your bandmates behind their back. I mean, what else is that forum for?

Perhaps I'll elucidate when the time is appropriate.

Been around for a while. Things seem to be a bit more chill in the past couple of years at least IMO/IME.
I'm not scared of any forums, its just the Web after all, but I have learned to not post up in certain kinds of threads (that seem to repeat themselves ad nauseam).
I have used the Classifieds several times over the years with very happy results.
I also try not to post when I have no useful knowledge or meaningful experience with any given topic.
There is so much great experience here and the fact that very knowledgeable folks are on the forum has been a huge value to me, particularly when considering new amps, cabs and effects. I have also got some pretty good info from the Recording Gear and Equipment forum.
I also really appreciate the folks from various companies who offer their support and insights as well as direct support for their products. Very cool!

TB is a pretty mellow place and the mods do run a respectful ship .. and most users these days seem to be fairly reasonable people and follow the usage rules.
Some of what I personally considered the old-school bomb throwers seem to have left, been banned or chilled out on their own accord, which has added some calm.

I just trash talk my bandmates to their faces, cut out the middleman. Lol. Anyway, if I didn't talk sh*t to them, they'd think I was mad at them. Lol

I find that bassists here on average are a very serious bunch.
Band Management is way funnier than the Bass Humor forum.

This has been my experience as well. I've purchased a few things from the classifieds, and all transactions have been terrific. My biggest problem with classifieds is that I spend too much money!

The effects forums have been great, lots of good people over there, and the non-effects people are pretty well policed. I went on a multi-year journey to find the pedals I was looking for, and the forums were super helpful. All in all TB is pretty good, I ignore any haters (I haven't encountered many) and dig the helpful folks. In the end, MY opinion is the only one that matters.
