Anybody else afraid of any forums here?

The forums and people here are mostly awesome - nothing to be scared of anywhere. If you say something dumb, like after 9 drinks at 3:00am, you get called on it which is fair enough.

The worst forums I ever saw are now closed, they were for Corvette owners sponsored by a Corvette magazine. These car guys would fight and seriously threaten each other, to the point of trying to meet up to settle things. Wow. That was about 15 years ago, glad that crazy stuff is not tolerated these days.

I actually left here for a month because I felt like my posts were ignored and there were frequent rude responses to the threads I started. Now I just post in a few friendly areas and expect my posts to be overlooked.

ETA: My experiences lately here have been much better, so either I've gotten used to it or TB has gotten used to me, or both. Whatever the case, I'm comfortable here now.

I dunno - you’ve been here four months, have 500 posts and 1200+ likes. Not sure where you’re used to hanging out, but that’s a pretty good batting average around here.

If you want trial by fire, check out OT forums at any motorcycle or car site.

afraid no

Love/hate relationship with TB ... yeah a lot

I avoid some places because I don't care. I use what I use and this is it. I also starting to avoid the technique and general instruction ... two places that I liked. It always turn into a debate of who is right and because so complicate when the question was super simple... I know my basic music theory quite well and know some more heavy stuff too but I see there is no point debating or trying to educate so I let people call whatever three notes group a triplet.

I also avoid Basses ... because it is always about Fender whatever or a Fender-ish instrument boring AF

I want desperately at times to make some good spirited, and (I think) funny, jokes over in the effects forum. I dare not ever attempt that again. Just looking at the avatars of some of the posters hanging out there is enough to tame me.

I also shut off notifications to the classifieds and one particular artist forum here. The 2 unsubscriptions saves me a lot of time, money and aggravation. I'm not ascaired of those 2 places though. Just know it's better for me to keep out.

Effects I'm ascaired of.

How about you?

And yes, I know there's no such word but I like it :).

Not scared of that but............

I've been playing guitar for over 45 years, and bass for over 25, I'm getting better. Joined this group and suddenly realize I managed to play bass without a fuzz, or a mute. Reading different forums gave me ideas to try other things because up until now an on-board amp compressor and a MXR flanger were my only effects.

I did somehow trade some testy posts with an upright bassist but we worked it out. Hard to be angry at guys that dont want to play a P-Bass, so much they are missing.
