That’s too bad KBD. THEIR LOSS. They don’t need to know that the absolute best Pickup for my Les Pauls isn’t the $160 to $250 priced ones that I have bought in the past but the $30 a set ones that hardly anyone knows about.

The DB secret knock is Shave and a Haircut.
The secret knock to the secret jazz rooms is the first 5 notes of the Johnny Carson Tonight show theme played with appropriate swing. The swing thing keeps the symphonic players out.
The secret knock for the hidden classics section is a series of 32 semiquavers at allegro tempo followed by an audible moan and a 52 measure rest.
I have enjoyed the Classifieds for the GAS purchases/sales, it has helped me finally get close to the desired tone in my head (for the moment anyway

I usually try to "quote" the OP's original post, to make it clear that I am responding directly to their unadulterated first concept. Usually. But sometimes my enthusiasm leads me to forget to quote, and then my post showing up "37 pages in" might get taken 'a little out of current context'...

All forums are the same - someone's gonna like a post, someone else is gonna think it's stupid. Someone's going to misinterpret, somebody is going to cherry pick something to fit their agenda. But all in all this place is great and the mods do a good job. There are some brilliant people here, without whom this place could well be a dumpster fire.
As others have said, I have learned to stay away from certain threads. Or read them for the chuckles... because you never know what you're going to get, and there's always that one guy...

It's a forum. Between the people and the moderators, it makes for a wild wild west (all other forums are the same)
Yep, the amplifiers and effects forums can get a bit "bumpy".
I have seen the "hive mind" take over quickly if you do not fit their "norm". I have also found many folks to be super-helpful and knowledgeable on many of the forums here.
I have to admit, I still am not used to people responding to me with condescension and disrespect like they do on the internet. At 6'4" and 300 lbs., I just do not get that experience in real life.

Sadly, it seems that in some circles a "D" is just two grades up from an "F".
Some people's 4.0 GPA cravings will not allow them to accept anything less than a class "A"?
Bass heads/cabinets.. I don't have enough experience with enough to comment. In fact, I currently don't have a rig which is fine as everywhere I play has a decent enough rig. On top of that I'm still a sansamp/power amp combo advocate so I just shut up.
Rickanbacker, thunderbird etc.. I like the looks of the instruments and am fine with the sound but other than that I've no interest or knowledge about them so I just shut up.

Now I think having no real bass rig and playing through a different one each time I actually DO have a ton of experience with different amps/cabs ha! I guess I don't pay enough attention. I'm always impreseed with GK.

I usually just go to classifieds, bass, amp, and accessories. Rarely do I venture beyond that. I may comment on threads that show up on the homepage but thats only if I have something to ad.

I find several of these "discussions" very educational. If you want to find out everything, start an argument with an expert.
