Anybody hate talking/listening to small talk all the time?

I don't mind small talk at all. What I can't stand are these people who won't shut up.

Went to my brothers place for a gathering a while back and one of his friends started going on about his problems. I mean this guy talked and talked and talked. On and on. Everytime someone else would try to say something he would interrupt them and wouldn't stop.

I don't have much patience these days, so the quicker the talk the better.

I agree, get to the point and please don't repeat yourself. I was listening the first time.

I'm convinced, some people either like the sound of their voice, or just need the feeling of being heard.

From my experience, many times the people who talk and talk and talk are nervous about something or other. I hesitate to say insecure, but that could be it too.

I think you're onto something here Mike. The few insecure folks I know can't stand being around people without running it the entire time. Usually, without any substance whatsoever.
