You're right, all of those movies are stupid.
Stupid - no.
Intellectual - no.

Awesome. I hate muppets. All of them. Their slapstick let's-teach-you-how-to-spell style of entertainment appeals to a very narrow demographic and one that I simply cannot relate to. Imean, really. Isn't it more or less patronizing thos of us that can read?
Mike
It is very relevant.
This thread is basically about a culture that is depicted in film that's obviously not understood by the you.
Chris Rocks new movie(from the link I provided) Is also about a culture and a culture within a culture.
Maybe instead of you stating how much you hate Tyler Perry, you should have just asked some one to help you understand what you obviously do not understand.
I didn't get worked up btw...I just wrote a comment that I didn't understand how that pertained to Tyler Perry. Like someone else said, just because I don't have black hair doesn't mean I can't see that this looks funny. And do you know why? Because Chris Rock has talent. I understand that culture that is portrayed in Tyler Perry's stuff. I get it. But they don't show it as being humorous. They try to and they fail.
Fail.
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS THREAD?
And the whole me hating on Elmo because he is black underneath? I am not a racist. At all. And the fact that you would assume that I am is insulting to me. Just because I dislike a black person's shows, and think I see a sign of racism, that automatically makes me racist? Yeah. Right.
Im almost positive Jauqo was not serious about elmo. Theres a lot of sarcasm around here, and unless Im wrong, that was part of it.
I've seen racism in other places against black people. And I felt bad about it. I guess I hate white people too. But wait. I'm white.
Fail.
John for the record I never said that you were a racist. It is strongly evident that there are some aspects of black culture and certain types of films by black artist that you do not understand.
John the Elmo thing was a joke. And please I'm not ignorant enough to assume that you are racist.
Thank you Doc.
You sir have failed all over.
First by expressing so powerfully how you hate Tyler Perry and from there the path onto your search and hopes that others do as well.
And please realize that there are white people who really do hate white people. So the actuality is not far fetched at all.
And for the record. I have no issues with you and I don't think that you are a racist.
And it is always hard to tell online if someone is joking or not, so for that I apologize Jauqo.
Don't apologize to me. Apologize to Elmo for attempting to tarnishing his greatness![]()

Muppet bashing as best I can tell
Elmo is a giant d-bag. His entire "act" is nothing more than going around being one of the "slow" muppets.
"Hey, look at me - I'm one of the stupid muppets. Even Grover is smarter than me. Duh! And here comes my friend, Kermit. He might be smarter than me but he's an arrogant jerk. I'm better than him because I'm not an arrogant jerk like he is."/QUOTE]
now you just trying to set me off
I'm mean just like a pre-CBS Fender Jazz the Pre-disney Muppets are just better but the current Muppets are fine entertaining shows![]()
Blah, blah, blah. Back to Elmo. Ever notice that he talks to his goldfish? Lowbrow. I saw him skate once and, believe me, I've seen much better tricks done by amatuers. He's a no-talent hack.
Mike
If this were true (and I'm not saying it's not, just thinking out loud) and you actually do understand the culture and his target audience finds him funny and you don't... do ya think it might be possible that you're missing something? That maybe you don't understand as much as you think?
Did he really "fail" if he's as successful as he is? I'd say no. You're not his target audience. Neither am I. The difference seems to be that I understand that.

Dude, somewhere somebody is laughing at the joke. That's all that counts! Just because it didn't make you laugh, doesn't mean it wasn't amusing enough to someone else. Get over it already. He's not going away anytime soon! But even jokes not pertaining to the culture are pulled off horribly. Like, it is just not a well written show in my opinion.
