OK, so I admit I'm a guitar player first, bassist second. However, in guitars, I have more PRS Core models than any other. I love beautiful woods. But I also have a pile of Strat and Tele style guitars - all in classic "custom" finishes from the auto industry. I love them all.
In basses, I tend to own metallic solid colors (or seafoam/surf green!). I love the look of some of the Warwicks, Spectors, Foderas, and others I see with beautiful natural wood tops. It's gonna sound odd, but I don't think I have the chops to pull one of those off. I seem to feel that a F-style bass in a solid color is OK to hide behind when I'm "pretending" to play bass, but if I showed up with an exotic burled wood topped beauty, I'd be *expected* to take a solo. And ain't nobody wants to hear that!
I dream of a PRS Grainger - I know they don't get a ton of love around these parts but the ones I have seen I find incredibly beautiful.
