Anyone else out there "play" guitar?

I'm equally skilled on bass and guitar, which is to say, good enough to hang in a band, but not exactly setting the world on fire. I'm no shredder on the guitar, but nor am I a root note thumper on bass.

Oh, if we're sharing instruments, I have a 2000 MIM strat in midnight blue which I rewired with CTS and Switchcraft guts, a new Fender pickguard and some Rose pickups from near San Francisco. Also have a stock 1995 MIM jazz bass in LPB and a semi-rare 1999 Seagull S6 acoustic six string with a cedar top and mahogany back and sides (the rare part).

I've pretty much decided not to buy any more Squiers and Epiphones. Most of them are very, very good, but sue me, the name on the headstock matters to me. They say "cheap" or "beginner" to people, even if neither is true. I wish Fender and Gibson would just do what Ibanez and the others do and keep everything the same brand.

Yep, guitar and mandolin too... I took up playing guitar while taking a break from upright... looooong time ago.
I have 2 Mandolins. I’m probably most proficient on mandolin, but I have more basses (4) than other instruments. I also have a Tele and a Larivee D-02 acoustic.

I can also play tenor guitar, Mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello, bouzouki, and ukulele, but I don’t own them. Also play cajon, djembe, congas and other percussion. It’s fun to play other instruments and I get more gigs!

I’d say that’s a modest enough guitar to be guilt free for a semi-guitar player... it’s just that it’s a great value so it’s making you feel it’s more guitar that you deserve for your skill... forget that and enjoy it... I do the same thing, question whether my guitar is too high end for my playing... in the same light, good guitars deserved to be played...

But that’s why Gibson and Fender are known as premium brands while Ibanez isn’t, although it’s been around decades and isn’t inferior.
