Technically that is the pre-gibson and Gibson era Tobias logo. It is the logo from Mike Tobias's first company that he sold to Gibson. Now he builds under the name MTD.
Funny... I've been emptying out My storage, and letting a few Basses/Guitars "go", lately. Had TOTALLY forgotten (no joke), about this one. Been out of sight, in a case, for a while. I'm gonna have go go back, this Saturday, and bring it Home... Thanks again.
Although... one bass (and... I DO know what it is), that I brought home, Is My '84, Ibanez, Roadstar ll, RB760. Unfortunately, it's missing a pole magnet, in the neck position pickup. Any "leads", on where I may be able to get a replacement? An entire, original pickup? A suitable replacement? Iv'e already contacted Ibanez. It took them 2 days to respond, and were no help. I've searched EBAY, Here, and... Reverb, to no avail. Any help/suggestions, would be appreciated, as I've never been much of a tech guy, or into modding basses. If I liked them, as the were, I bought them. Thanks, AGAIN.
Missing the magnet, or just the threaded screw that goes down TO the magnet? Take one of the other ones out and go to your local Fastenal (or good hardware store) to match up the thread size and head style. I've bought regular humbucking pole screws from McMaster-Carr before, you ought to be abe to find a suitable replacement.
So I hear. I'll be posting pics, when I get time to bring Her out of storage. Most likely, Saturday, or Sunday (I don't watch Football). Neck thru. Dual Bartolini soapbars. Badass bridge. I think that she "sat pat", because I've never really liked black basses, and the headstock makes me cringe.... But... THANK YOU, TOO!!!
Headstock, schmeadstock. The tone of that beastie with a fresh battery & new set of strings will make a believer out of you.
That's why I bought it, in the first place. Although... I let my NS-2A, sit for years, after someone called it My "WINGER" bass... Yeah, I'm weird.
Ouch! My NS-4 is my main bass, but I'd also be tempted to stash it away if I ever heard that same comment.
Right?!!! On the flip side... it did PRESERVE it. Now... if I could only find some original knobs (with the little white dots on them) for Her, I'd be STOKED!!!
I thought vintage Tobys had black knobs with a single short white line. At any rate, here are some good places to begin your hunt... Knobs & Switch Tips Knobs and Switch Tips | Allparts.com
Was talking about My "Winger" bass... But thanks... AGAIN!!! My Gibson Victory, has knobs that "go to 11!!!"
