Tim Bogert had a 5 string bass with that logo on it back when he was my singing teacher. 1986 I think. 5ers were pretty rare at the time. If I recall correctly Tim said he got the bass from Michael Tobias in person whom he'd first met at a local Hollywood amp and guitar repair shop.

Nope. They were metal, knurled sided, dome knobs. I still have ONE, around here, somewhere. But, I was gigging quite a bit back then (late '80's/early nineties. Yeah, I'm old), and... they just "POOFED."
This is a 4. Ya'll are making me want to go get it. But... gates stop working at 8pm. It's the opposite direction, from my ride home from work. I'll post pics, Sat., or Sunday.

And... The logo seems higher on the headstock, and thinner, than the ones that I am seeing, through research...

Yes... My Daughter put some stickers, on Her, when She was tiny. She'll be 28, next month, and... I'll NEVER remove them.
And... in this case... I don't mind so much, but... How did this go from a black Tobias thread, to a white Spector thread?

My NS-4 is my main bass, but I'd also be tempted to stash it away if I ever heard that same comment.

I'd go with a set of the Spector Euro knobs if you can't locate some originals.
It's TalkBass... it can turn on a dime... faster with popcorn.
So what you're telling us is that you have a pre-Gibson Tobias bass sitting in storage where it's been so long that you forgot that you even had it? What else have you got in there? Any Porsches?

It hasn't really been that long.
Although... People bring me "stuff", and... if I like it, I buy it. I only keep a few basses/guitars, at Home. Mainly, because I'm never there. Heck, for all I know, this is a bootleg, or something. I'll bring it home, and post pics... once again... Saturday, or Sunday, as soon as I push that Porsche out of the way...
It isn't in the basement. We don't have those here. EARTHQUAKES!! This is why We, as "Calofornios", rent storage lockers, to forget about stuff in...

Marc, head to the TB Spector Owner's Club thread & try asking if anyone has a set of NS-2A knobs for sale.
