Anyone Using Only Micros Now?

I haven't gigged in a long time, but am looking to get back to it, and I can't fathom taking more than some sort of micro rig when the time comes. I've got an MB500 and a neo 112, and while I don't think that cab on it's own will hack it, I think 2 would. And compared to my old rig (Hartke 7000, Hartke 410, Carvin 115), I think this sounds better too. FWIW, i tend to like a clean, crisp, modern tone, so I'd probably be disappointed if I were coming to this rig from an SVT and a fridge, but if I can get a tone I like in a small package, I don't see any downside.

I recently switched from a Fender Super Bassman @ 65 lbs., to a GK MB Fusion 500 @ 4.5 lbs. No problems here. The GK is a little monster of sound, and it has the settings that sound as deep, and smooth as a much larger, heavier tube head. The GK matches up great with the Ampeg SVT-212AV cab.

I downsized from my Hartke LH500 to the new Peavey Minimax, running an Avatar 15 neo, which is--at 50 lbs.--lighter than advertised. The Minimax has been a real champ, performing beautifully in hot, humid outdoor FL gigs. All the sound guys like it, and they have run it in both the pre and post modes. Our overly energetic singer ran into my guitar cord and the amp took a tumble onto the floor, but it didn't blink. Great little amp; for those who are interested, UI run it basically flat with none of the buttons engaged.

Played my db359 this weekend. Very satisfying and worth the extra schlep vs the relatively-micro db751 for how well it fits this band.

I have a db659 and have been half contemplating a minnie to go with it. But so far all the micro stuff has sounded like "fake plastic tone" to me.

I think the aggie TH heads have a great sounding DI/pre, but the micro power section just sucks all the life out IME YMMV.

DB751 is "relatively micro!?!?!?" :jawdrop: As I recall, my DB359 was slightly smaller than my DB750, and a similar overall weight. Personally, I would consider them both to be (great sounding) behemoths, as opposed to "micro" amps like the TH350/500 and similar heads.

Kidding, of course. The 359 is way heavier though even though it is 2U. Its a brick. A 751 is micro compared to an SVT :) (and can sound very similar)
