Are egg yolks bad for you?

The great egg debate is a wonderful example of science and empirical evidence at work. One day we think we know this, the next, nope we were wrong. Sciency goodness.

No, I'm not mocking science. It's a wonderful thing. It's just that the "facts" often are not factual and yet are accepted as facts until proven otherwise. Infallible.

Egg whites are mostly protein. The yolk contains the nutrients.
Both are good for you. Eggs are the perfect food item.

There are many myths about cholesterol. The fight against
cholesterol has been misguided for decades and is just finally
coming around to a better understanding.

The test that most doctors give for cholesterol is obsolete and
most don't even realize it. Eggs may raise your cholesterol but
in a good way. They will raise your good cholesterol (HDL).
This is the better predictor of of heart disease. Low HDL is
bad; high HDL is good. Eggs raise HDL. Thus, eggs = good.

Eggs may also raise the LDL on the cholesterol tests that they
give today. But there's a problem with the test. There are
actually two types of LDL. The test doesn't differentiate.
One type is benign; the other is bad. Eggs may raise the
benign type but won't affect the bad type.

To sum it up, eggs increase good cholesterol and have no
effect on the truly bad cholesterol.

For info on Cholesterol and fats , The Framington Study is one of the best out there to read

A study done on an entire town for 40 years to see what the effects of eating cholesterol and fats were........

Actually it's sugar that does the damage...

and also I'd be more worried about tri-glyceride levels than cholesterol..

+1000 Sugar and carbs will kill you decades before cholesterol will.

Cholesterol is so important that every cell in your body can synthesize it if necessary. High cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease or other health problems, but is instead a reaction to other poisonous junk people regularly stuff themselves with, and has been an innocent victim of a massive smear campaign for decades.
