Wider Necks
This narrow string-gap was created for the slightly smaller hands of the typical far-Eastern player. But Aria also made a family of SB basses with wider, shallower necks strung with a slightly higher action. The easy way to recognise such a bass is the distinctive elliptical fret inlays.
The SB-R80 shown is typical of this family. It has two pick-ups (the single pick-up version is called the SB-R60) and, for comparison, the neck is 42mm wide at the nut, 55mm at the 12th fret but still the same 83mm round the back. The string-gap at the bridge, chrome this time, is a more normal 18mm. That's still narrower, I am told, than a Fender Jazz! The strings on SBs such as this have a more pronounced taper inwards from bridge to nut than the narrow-necks have.

The first one is a great buy but it is a bit dinged and the knobs aren't original if you care about that sort of thing. I'm sure it would be a great player.
The second one seems like a so-so price. I wouldn't call it a rip-off myself. People have paid $1500 to $2000 for that Cliff Burton one. It is used so I would say $800 would be an excellent price. Just my opinion.

Yeah I agree with the great Zuma. the first is about what I'd expect to pay for a used one. the second is a little steep for a used one but the SB1000CB's were the only SB reissues that Aria USA imported to the US (dumbasses

To anyone who owns or has played an IGB 68 - is it a heavy bass? I know it's made of ash but is it generally a heavy wood?
if thats the new korean type, they are light and they are crap IMO.
I used to own one with natrual finish and hated it. the older 80's/90's models were much better in build and sound but they are rare.
Yeah the new IGB's are pretty bad. The old ones are supposed to be awesome!

yeah dude, i used to own a korean aria pro 2 integra 4 string. it was passive with natrual finish and was terrible. it just had this "plonky" dull tone to it so i ditched it for MIJ soundgear 800.
Because I'm talking about the swamp ash active version with series/parallel and bypass switching.

I'm in the process of reconditioning mine, and I need a new set of machine heads.
A new 2+2 set has a 14mm diameter whereas the old ones are 13mm.
