Let me know if any of you are interested. It's a Cardinal series with an original custom walnut body, Model CSB-380. Patent number is 555719 and serial number is available upon request. Well im back again with a few more questions. Still havent had time to work on the last aria I got, the mint integra 5er(missing electronics), but came across this aria. Missing the bridge pickup, of which I have a couple extra. Whats the word on the arias that just say aria on the headstock? Any other info on this one? Here the pics.

On another note, is this Aria Pro Cardinal series,1980, worth it?From what I've been told, it has a neck through not bolt on. What do you guys think about this one. only pic

The first Aria looks old, and that's about all I could venture to guess on it! I don't think the Cardinal Series had any neckthrough models, though. According to the catalogs, it looks like a CSB-300 or CSB-380. They have "replaceable" necks, which I assume just means bolt on or "set neck" depending on the model. Maybe it is a set neck and the guy thinks it's a through body? Check out more specs:

I have heard they are nice basses, and aren't very expensive. Much cheaper than the SB series of course...

Anyway, don't forget to save some money and get some guts in the Integra 5! ;)

While doing a thorough clean of my bass recently, I discovered there was a thin packer under the bridge. It is ivory coloured & was under the front edge of the bridge. Should it be there, & is it a factory fitment? I have taken it out & raised my saddle heights to compensate, thinking more positive contact between the bridge & the body has got to be better, right?

I have this old fretless 4-string Aria and cannot find a model number although there is a serial number 1090022. I checked on-line catalogues but did not see any with this body shape and pickup configuration. Here is a photo. Does anyone recognise this model and have any idea of its value? Thanks.

I don't know what a "packer" is. A shim? if so, don't remove it - you will change the action, and not for the better. A piece of paper? No harm in removing it unless it has manufacturer info on it.

I have seen a strip of styrofoam-like material under floating bridges to keep them from scratching the finish - but this doesn't sound the same.

What in the world is a "packer"?

That looks like a vantage to me.

*edit* Yep looks like a Vantage VS695.[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Was made in the same factory as a lot of Arias

Indeed this is a VS 695B/FL. Thanks so much Arai for your help. Now does anyone have an idea what its used sale value might be? It looks to me like it is in good condition and all original parts but I am not an expert so hard to tell. What would its value in good condish be?

What it's worth is basically what someone is prepared to pay for it. They are really well built instruments ...but they are also not so well known or that sort after (for that reason). I would say you would get $200-400 for it depending in which part of the world you live.
I would hold onto it or give it to arai if I was you:)

I have a cardinal 300 and 380. I love them . But they are not for everyone. medium scale and a small body puts most people off .
And as Alembic83 said they were cheaper then the SB series I dont think the tone or build quality was so. I used to own an SB 900 . And I prefer the cardinals ,

I just got a new (well, "new") Aria Diamond bass with an unusual headstock. Can anybody tell me the model and the build year?

It is a 335 copy and I guess it might be either Aria 1220 or Aria 5120, but I really don't know. The pickguard is gone, just the screw holes are left. There is a serial number in the metal plate, but inside the body the model no. and serial no. are missing (see pictures). Might this be some kind of prototype? Or perhaps it is built from several different Aria basses parts. Anyway, this is a very, very beautiful, playable and sweet bass indeed.

Hey guys!

haven't posted here in a while... :)

I managed to pick up an '84 SB Black n' Gold I today for a good price. But the downside is that it needs work. I don't think it's nothing that I won't be able to do though.
Another but... I need you guys help!

I need a bridge saddle for an SB, gold preferably. This is the same saddle used on the other basses of the time, like the cardinal etc...
Also I'm looking for a knob for the bass (only has one left! :() It's one of the large early style ones (non stacked).

Well, I know it's the wrong hemisphere of TalkBass.com, but I'm so pleased with it, I'll post this anyway. I just love my Aria SWB Light One electric upright bass. (pictured next to my SX SJB for scale) I got it a few weeks ago from Jumbotron and I've just been digging the hell out of it. It's even got strap buttons on it and actually plays comfortably worn as an electric bass, so it counts, right? :smug:

Sure, all Aria owners are welcome here! I think a few guitars have snuck in here before aswell... :hiding:
