On another note, is this Aria Pro Cardinal series,1980, worth it?From what I've been told, it has a neck through not bolt on. What do you guys think about this one. only pic

I love these basses. I have the exact same model as this, and the same colour.
The CSB-450.
Not an expensive bass, but so lovely to play...
I have loved cardinals since I started on the bass, using my teachers old CSB-380.
Then a CSB-450 came up on ebay, and had it shipped out here to Australia!
So happy with it!
Did you decide to get this bass at all?

I emailed Aria UK asking about their current serial numbering system for Japanese made instruments as I know a few people have been wondering about this. I'll post up a reply if I get it.

I just bought a fretless aria pro2 rsb with p bass pickups natural finish maple neck made in japan at pawn shop for 80$. its old and sounds good. i wonder when this was made. i know nothing about these guitars and bought it . i am a fender player and this is a well made guitar. anyone have info, please please..

Yeah, thats what mine is, set neck.

I've always wanted to see a CSB-450 Black and Gold model in person, but haven't come across one yet...

As far as I know, Matsumoku didn't build fretless RSB-basses, but there are de-fretted RSB:s around.

The "first run" RSB:s were built 1979-?, "second run" RSB:s 1983-87

They built the first run and part of the second run. The last year would have been done by another factory due to Matsumoku going under.

The serial number on the back of my IGB 40 is S98071736
Its Made in Korea too.

I am guessing the 98 is the year as thats when I bought it.
Anyone got a clue what the S might mean? Standard?

Not a great pic here I know. It looks different now anyway. Ripped out the factory pickups about 5 years ago and put in active EMG's. Was a great bass, not its just super.

S would be for Samick I believe. They make guitars and basses for other companies as well as their own stuff.

i just got back my Aria STB-JB-DX/5 from my luthier... i had it modded:

changed the pickups to custom ones with ebony casings... and also added a passive bypass switch:

i'm totally loving it!

will try to post soundclips if i find time.

hi, today i found your thread here, 1. time i saw an owner of this bass, and first time i saw info (only pic) about. long time i search for info in the net, nothing. I have the same one you have, but in blue, but no number on the neck, made in korea, also rhino headstock. Pls do you have more info about the bass now??(Model?, Year? or it can be a Prototype?? etc.) or how much you have pay for it? or you know about from 1. Owner or seller to you some infos?
I think only we have this bass in this universe, lol! Im looking around in so much foren, www. sides, talk with aria users/owners nobody know infos about!!

It looks like a PE body.

According to the Aria archives they made a PE bass prototype in '89 called the PE-50B, but I can't find any information other than this.
