Well here's a shameless speed slap solo played on my mate's Aria SB-R80 (I think). Fab bass, sounds crap with the stock PUs but plays like a dream. I'm tempted to buy it off him and mutilate it in every sense.

the tone's not that bad - the playing is terrible.

Your technique seems solid, but that riff is the worst excuse for music I've ever heard. Please don't ever record something like that again, but if you do, destroy it immediately

Yep, that would be a black n' gold II. An Elite II would have an all gold bridge and I don't think those came in black either (except the one with the trans black wings).

Nice!! I picked up a B n' G I recently that needed some work. It's coming along nicely.
I posted pics a page or two ago from when I got it. Some guy had it in his attic for about 15 years.

Mine also needs a good cleaning.
I bought it 100€ about three years ago but didn't play a lot with it; too heavy for my hurting back and i've got 5 other basses. Use it only when I need its particular sound...

I have a BnG too, it's a perrty bass. I got it for about $400. AFAIK, the only thing not-stock are the pick-ups.

Looks like the Aria USA site is up and running (sort of). Check www.ariausa.com . So far just the guitar and bass sections are working. They seem to be pushing the SB-CB bass...

Hey guys, I'm excited to see a forum devoted to Aria Basses, I have loved mine since I was 14. I apologize if this has been covered, but I looked through this thread and didn't see it. I have an Aria Pro II Cat Bass with active pickups. I am looking for a wiring diagram, or simply some wiring info on how the 3 way switch is wired. My socket and volume pot are real scratchy and the volume goes in and out when I jiggle them. I am looking for some way to clean the connections, (I would much rather repair than replace) does anyone have any advice? And if you have a working bass similar to mine maybe I can pick your brain on how it is wired. Thanks!

so, Im new here, I just bought an Aria Pro II SLB off a friend of mine for $25. Its in decent shape, but I figured it was junk since I had never heard of it before, and he was selling it to me for $25. Does anyone know anything about this bass, how it rates, etc etc?

Have you tried just cleaning the pots with some contact cleaner? It might solve the scratchiness. If you can jiggle them, it sounds like they need to be tightened up a bit. But if sound is cutting out altogether then maybe the wires are just coming loose and it needs to be re-soldered? I'm no wiring wiz, though, just throwing out some ideas.

To ben94gt, $25 for any working bass sounds good to me. As for the SLBs, I think those were a late 80s/early 90s model that were geared towards metal, judging by the looks (kind of pointy headstock, right?). I read they were Korean made, but the Aria Archives have been known to be wrong on a few things. If you post a pic we might be able to give more info. I've never played one but for $25 it'd be hard to go wrong. I can tell you it is not one of the more sought after Arias (like the SB or earlier Precision and Jazz copies) around.

Hello everybody, I just wanted to share my happiness.
I got a new mate for my SB900 FL... and it's another SB900 !
This time it's a fretted one. It's in pretty good condition for a 28 years old bass.
After a quick cleaning, neck straightening, new strings and new jack, this baby is ready to rock.
Anyway, 'nuff talking, here are the pics (click for a reduced-but-still-too-big-for-a-forum version of the original pics):

The blonde is the -new- one, the brunette is the fretless one.

jdel, those SB-900's are beauties! :thu:

The guitar is a PE Special or by the model number it's PE-SPL. They were made in Korea, and judging by the serial number that one was probably made by Samick. It's a nice lookin' guitar!
