Hello. I live in Japan, and at my local music store, the owner has (had?) a 5-string Aria Pro II, but I forget which series. I know it looked old, at least 10 or more years old. It looks like a 5 string version of this, with two pick ups. I am looking around and can not find a picture of it on the internet. It's got the same triangle head piece, and the little passive/active switchs. I held off on buying it because I didn't know anything about the company.

I regret not buying it now, since it's only 18,000 yen, or roughly 170 american dollars. I don't even think the owner of the store knows much about it. He accepted it as a trade in from a local musician.

It reminds me of a SB-R80 as far as the body type and electronics set up. I wish I had the owners email so I could get more information about it. I'll buy it and take photo's when I return to Japan late July. If it's what I think it is, I'm buying it off principle. (If he still has it! I hope!! ^_^; )

Thanks for listening to my bable, and if anyone knows for sure what I'm talking about, and knows anything about it, tell me!

EDIT: I did more looking, and it definately looks like it's an RSB series. Unfortunately, I still can't find a picture of the exact bass. I sadly haven't even been able to find a picture that looks close. It's got that body, but it's 5 strings and has two humbucker pups. I want to buy it now! Argh!

Yeah, that's what got my attention initially.
I've spent some quality time with it making adjustments and slapping on new(er) strings. Very solid and even, no dead spots. Unplugged it really resonates. This is a great slapping bass, brighter than a P but still chunky sounding, great articulation.
And the closer I look the more I think this was purchased, played a bit, and slid under the bed for 20+ years. Essentially brand new. But no serial # and no pictures of one anywhere so far. Hmmmmm, a prototype? Thought's, Aria people?

count me in, i have two aria pro II rsb series basses, the white one is my favorite bass, the black one i made fretless, i love them both, i know these arent the super high line models, but they still play like a dream and sound great,

The S/N usually lives on the neckplate. I'm intrigued by the presence of a pickguard, mine (1983 version) doesn't have one. I'm going to guess & say it could be a very late one when production was about to be switched to Korea. Photos are a must, I feel.

My Aria's SN is actually stamped into the fretboard after the last fret. I guess that's the case on the new custom shop Aria's. :confused:
