Yes, I can attest that the Rautia pickups sound as close to the vintage ones as you can get. I would go that route if you really want to bring it back to original (or close as possible) specs!

How the blazes did you find a pickup winder who made the exact pickups for this bass? I would've thought it would be near impossible, but I'm not a Aria guy.

I bought bartolinis. And talkbass was nice enough to help me out. Bartolinis were sold and thus the long wait for these pickups but i believe well worth thr wait.

Yes. Have lots of options.


The pickups have four conductor shielded wire.
Coil1: Red hot, blue to ground
Coil2: Yellow hot, green to ground.
Coils connected in series: Red hot, blue and yellow soldered together, green and shield to ground.
Coils in parallel: red & yellow hot, blue, green and shield to ground.

Going for parallel.

Wiring them in parallel with the coil tap switches probably won't give you much tonal variation. Maybe consider series/parallel switching instead, they'll always be humbucking then and will give lots of good sound.

Tested the bass today. Its everything I hoped for. The pickups are amazing. Just need to polish and clean up and have that gloss finish.

Used it in band practice today. Incredibly articulate, good presence and definition. Very comfortable as well. Better pictures from my music room.
