Army to shoot live pigs for training

Brad,
They are rubbing OUR noses in "it" :eyebrow: Like Marilyn Manson* said.......You can't see the forrest between the trees, you cant' smell your own **** on your knees

"OUR"
:hmm:

That's funny because they can't rub my nose in anything unless I let them (there's a hint in there somewhere;))

Let's say they are (rubbing the rest of OUR noses I guess) ... what do you think their motive is, to get a response? That would be my bet. So you oblige by giving them one?

doh! Played like a violin
:hyper:

*Somehow I doubt a MM quote adds legitimacy to your point;)

"The Army to Shoot Live Pigs for Training" is the title of the thread, if you click on the article the headline is:
"Live pigs will be practice fodder for US troops".
Do you see the pattern?

"The US will use pigs to train medical personnel in treating combat gunshot wounds" just doesn't sell. Ignore the BS.

Meh.........I never whitnessed any insight. This thread has suffered from troll-fu since the first post. :atoz:
Here's some insight for free, it's spelled "witnessed" :D

Still waiting on you to provide some evidence that anything in the OP or the article is false....

In the meantime, you might want to consider that this is a genuine current affairs topic, google news brings up over 400 recent articles on it:

http://news.google.co.uk/news?hl=en&q=shoot pigs training&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wn

OTOH most of your posts in this thread have added nothing to the discussion and have merely been trollish. Ironic, huh? :)

BTW, did you ever notice how the people who seems to rally against those "easily offended" people who make "PC" complaints in other threads always seem to be the ones crying the hardest whenever they see a thread they don't agree with. I've noticed it. Food for thought. :)

Mark,

I want to thank you for pointing out the error in my ways. I owe it to you for opening my eyes and virtually changing my life. As an American, I don't know how I've made it through life this far without this new found wisdom. I'm headed out right now to join Code Pink, PeTA and Greenpeace. Hopefully your presence here will help open other Americans eyes to how backwards and un PC they really are.
You ARE the MAN!! :smug:

By the way, I took the liberty if fixing your post.

I want to thank you for pointing out the error in my ways.

On the contrary, I was merely providing you with the insight you were seeking.

I owe it to you for opening my eyes and virtually changing my life.

I do what I can.

As an American, I don't know how I've made it through life this far without this new found wisdom.

Interesting that you felt the need to qualify it as being "as an American". Why would you say that? It has no relevance to me where you are from. It reads like you are saying being an American puts you at a disadvantage. I don't agree with that, but if its what you think....

I'm headed out right now to join Code Pink, PeTA and Greenpeace.

Good luck with that. Personally, I am not really into those organisations, but if thats the assumption you want to make....

Hopefully your presence here will help open other Americans eyes to how backwards and un PC they really are.

Why are you so concerned with other Americans being backwards? It sounds like you might be sporting an inferiority complex there. Perhaps you should talk to someone about it. It could really hold you back in life.

Its interesting reading back over this thread that in the first couple of pages no one made a big deal about which country was doing this practice at all (since why would it matter, the practice is the practice whether its done by the USA, Russia, China or whoever). It just so happens that the news of the world is reporting about the US practice. I can't see how it flows that seeing an interesting subject for discussion in the news (such as shooting live animals for medical training) which would give rise to interesting ethical questions, must be an attack on the USA. So who kicked of this us vs them discussion? IMO its interesting that the first two posts in this thread to even bring nationality into the discussion are these:

It's on the Aussie internet, it MUST be true!! :rollno:

When they are empowered by PeTA and the British :)

:eyebrow: indeed. If anyone's got a spare mirror, I think we may have a user in Florida who needs to have a good hard look one! :D

:hiding:

:D

Now that we have cleared up where the "trouble" started, would the animal used change your view on whether this is acceptable or not? What about, for example, if it were dogs or horses used for the testing?

No, not really. As I said it's a necessary evil.
Pigs are chosen simply for the fact that there are several anatomical/physical similarities. I wonder how folks would react if it were chimps or something of the sort.

How about long winded Brits?? :rollno:

How about gun toting americans? ;)

But seriously,

What if another animal was used? Well they wouldn't be. Pigs are used because of their physical properties, skin etc being similar to humans, and the fact they are bread for slaughter generally not to mention are a lot cheaper than chimps.

Dogs would be also out of the question because most people would find it traumatising to shoot such an animal, because of pet dogs and the emotional attachment that comes with them.

Awwwww looks like someone can't get past the nationality issue, once again. How predictable.

PS. I'm not British. So, when you've finished your trolling, how bout you move on like an adult? ;)

Thats odd, they way you ramble on and on and on........

And I was reading all your posts in my best Tony Blair voice too. :( OK, again, thanks for your abundance of wisdom. I'm moving on like an adult now :D
