So far 'S' for the year range and if made in China is not coming up with a definitive answer.

Same or similar results with this reference.

This part I must've missed...does this mean they may not have been made in China or they were but they don't know what factory and/or where?

I've talked about my Artcores in this thread some recently, but had not posted a pic or gotten a number. It's time!

2019 AGB200, 2013 AGB200, 2020 AFB200.

Edit: I looked at the S/Ns for the year of manufacture. Surprise! I bought the AFB last year, but the mfg. date was 2020.

I love the color of the center one. That tan looks great. I still haven’t found one locally to try. I’m not a seafoam guy, but one of those is about 4 hours away.

Back when I owned my previous ASB140, I posted a query about maybe a different way of attaching the strap that is attached the heel of the neck. I used to have Gibson SG that had the same strap setup which I didn’t like on that either. I have lost an appreciable amount of weight since those days so it may be ok now….I’m just “patiently” waiting for my 140 to get here to see if losing weight has helped me wear it better.

Has anyone been able to figure out a way of attaching the strap to the 140 other than under the heel? I remember it wanting to roll forward with it attached that way.

you could get one designed for acoustic guitar. Some of those have strings or leather bands/strap that go under the instrument strings between the nut and tuners. That’s how my ubass strap is.

here is the ubass example. It has a leather strap instead of strings that go between nut and tuners. Looks different but works well. I’m not sure if the ubass one is long enough for a full size bass. Course you could take that leather strap and move it to any guitar strap.

Great idea but I would be willing to bet that with that setup, the neck would be pulled up (the ASB140 has a long neck) and would pull the strings out of tune. I used to use that style strap on my acoustic guitars but the necks on those are much shorter which means less leverage to pull the neck out of tune.

I play seated so I have never noticed such an issue.

I have a question for you folks. I have read that there are two versions of the AS100C case, an earlier one that the ASB140 fit in and a later one that it doesn't (too short). I believe the early one was made by a company called TKL or something like that.

The bass I bought (but haven't received yet) is coming with a HSC but the person I bought it from said it's not the "original" case but the bass fits it fine. I was under the impression at the time that it was original but I assumed it was...and we all know what happens when we assume ;). I was thinking about looking for an "original" if this case has issues. I know the chances of finding are slim but hey, one never knows...

Does anyone know if the AGB100C case fits? It's made for a long scale Artcore bass (AGB140).

Pretty sure I'll be looking for a gig bag for this bass as well...any ideas?

The case for the AGB140 never ever ever fit for the ASB140 as they are different sized bodies. The ASB140 is double cut and has a wider lower bout. They are NOT the same size.

The case for the ASB140 is no longer made. The AGB100C case made way back when would work for the AGB140 and also the AGB200 and AGB205, but albeit with a lot of extra room at the headstock.

The main problem is that they never changed the model number of the cases when they made them strictly for the short scale AGB series and short scale ASB series (ASB180).

How do I know, because I’ve been through this myself. If it is a NOS or used from years ago as opposed to brand spanking new you might be in luck. Always, always get COMPLETE internal measurements.

Also, the AFB200 uses a completely different case as well.

Someone somewhere had luck with an Ibanez case for one of their Acoustic Bass Guitars, but it was too deep and required some padding (towel) to keep the bass from moving around front to back.

Guardian and TKL can help you out if you give them complete body dimensions but they’re over $230.

Hi all. Came home from work the other day and found my wife picked me up a new bass for our anniversary.
I'm over the moon about it. Beautiful and inspiring bass.
I did notice the tone pot does nothing but thank you to B-Mac for sending me over here and to the tone pot discussion!
Not sure how I'll address it. Either replacing the pots or a new pickup. I'll think on it. I can see a case may be an issue.
Still waiting for my strings to come. I'm going with La Bella Flats .045-.105 I was a bit afraid to go with the heavier ones.
Good to know that I'm not the only one who appreciates this bass.

Congrats!!! Your wife is a keeper!!! I used to have one of those and like a fool, I sold it. But.......I found another one and it's on the way! I bought it from a person in Canada so the trip will be prolonged as it goes through customs. It's stuck about 80 miles north of you at LAX customs. I did the pot replacement job on the old one. It made a big difference and it's not really that hard to do. If you lived closer, I'd give you a hand. There are a few tricks but I think those tricks are mentioned in that thread. I just bought another pair of 50K pots and they arrived today in anticipation of doing the same job on the this one that's on the way.
