Artcore Club

I had a guitar back in college, but I didn't practice enough and other stuff got in the way of my efforts. I went with the AGB because I had an Ibanez RG220, and really liked the quality, so I figured go with another. I like that it was close to the vintage of my old Ibanez, so why not?

I'm just learning, so if I ever actually play in a band maybe I'll switch the strings up, but for now I'd rather make it easier to learn. I tend to buy too much junk when I get into a new hobby, so I'm specifically avoiding all that so I focus on actually learning/playing.

I think that I’m finally done messing with this bass 😆 .

-List of changes to my AGB-140:
-Bartolini M34P
-Delano Sonar XPure buffer/booster
-Two .047uF Orange Drop tone caps in parallel
-Push/pull tone pot for active/passive
-Puretone 1/4 stereo jack
-Homemade Les Paul style pickguard
-Oversized maroon knobs
-Block inlay decals
-Copper/White pinstripe decals.
-Stick on “ThumbRocker” thumb rest.

Sounds great, more tonal options than stock, and still an absolute blast to play.

Plus, I think it looks kinda neato.
I like the pin striping, would like to get some for rckabilly

Which Artcore? What scale tapewounds?
Ibanez AGB140-TRB-12-01, 34" Scale,La Bella White Nylon Tape Wound Bass Strings 760T Standard 60-115,white color,
I miss-poke earlier, I have the Black Fenders on my Jazz Bass with maple fingerboard.
Took a while to bond with the Ibanez, as it felt the tuning keys are so far out, but it's a keeper now (My first Ibanez, guitar, was in 1962, bought in Los Angeles)

Add me to the club. I found this ABG 140 at the Nashville Guitar Show last weekend. Came with flats and a Hipshot bass extender. Just needed a good polish. Sounds great!

I have an AFB200 with Rotosound tapewounds on it. They’ve been on it since I bought the bass about 13-14 years ago. They’re finally sounding pretty dead. They are easy on the fingers but not a floppy string. I tried the LaBella white tapes and they sounded great but were very low tension. I’d definitely go for the Rotosound strings again. Up until they deadened out, they did not get lost in the mix. I also have Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats on a Longhorn and they definitely don’t get lost.
