Artcore Club

Sorry...been so busy the past few days. Yes! It arrived and it is in immaculate condition. It came in the same case that Ibanez bought from KTL but without the logo on it. I played it all afternoon the day I got it and played it for a while today until I had to shut off and unplug everything due to severe T-Storms that rolled through earlier. It's actually set up pretty well but I will put it on the bench in the next few days and touch up the truss rod/string height and do the pots mod. I'm trying to decide what strings to put on it, Rounds or Flats and what brand to use. All my basses have round wounds on it (mostly D'Addario) except for two basses, my 4 string Sire fretless and my Fender 1982 AVRI '57 P-Bass.

I contacted the seller and asked if they knew what the age was of the strings and possibly what brand. They said they were swapped out about 2 years ago but played very little...one gig and an hour or two of noodling. They think they are Ernie Ball strings, rounds.

So, after actually looking at the old strings, they have the different color coded ends that pretty much tell me they were D'Addario strings. The EB Cobalt Flats were all the same color ends and the silk was all purple.

Of course that's got to be my luck
I loved the seafoam green colour of the agb 260...

Thanks for the reply!

I mentioned it before… but if you search Austin tx Craigslist or OfferUp there’s a 260 (seafoam) labeled as a AGB200. Not sure if he ships.

on a separate note… I may get a chance to try an AFB200 soon. I’m sure @B-Mac will like it when I finally do.

Any of you have one of these flat black AGB200s yet?

I will like it as well. My AFB is pretty different from my AGB200. I have used my AFB for several theatre productions, and it's the sound I've been looking for. Big, deep, resonant sound. It's the sound you'd want to hear from an acoustic electric but with no feedback issues.

The only downside is that you have to track down the Ibanez HSC that fits it. The model number is AFB100C. The AFB does not fit in most gig bags and it does not fit in the other Artcore HSCs. The body is two or so inches too deep. I was hopeful it'd fit in my Mono Classic bag, but no way. The cases are out there, but you may have to do some searching. I got mine from Guitar Center online. They have them, but are currently charging $230. I didn't pay that. I caught them on sale last year.

I see that Sweetwater has them in stock again: Ibanez AFB100C Hardshell Bass Guitar Case - AFB Series A cool $167!

Just be aware these "newer" AFB100C cases do not fit the Artcore long scale basses such as the ASB140. The older TKL made for Ibanez cases do. Why they changed the dimensions of the case but not the P/N escapes me.

AGB fit in their own case - works for both AGB140 (34" scale) and AGB200 (30.3" scale) and AGB260 (30.3" scale). (Extra room above headstock for AGB200 and AGB260). Also works for Japan only model AGB180 (30.3" scale).
AFB (30.3" scale) fit in their own case.
ASB fit in their own case. Added issue is that the latest case for the ASB only works for the short scale ASB180 (30.3" scale). A case for the ASB140 (34" scale) is not obtainable from Ibanez any longer. (Unless you get lucky and find an older one, but brand new won't work for ASB140).

AGB single cut and ASB double cut do not fit in same case even though bodies are both thin. Bouts are different.

How do I know? Because I own:
AFB200
AGB140
AGB200
AGB205
ASB140

This case from Guardian (brand new over $200) will work for an ASB140 and an ASB180, but it is deeper than needed and a towel or similar will be needed for support under the bass body, but fits shape of upper and lower bouts perfectly.

Thanks! Very good to know...

Have you found any gig bags that will work with the ASB140 specifically?

Welp I guess I can get a number now….

it’s wearing mystery flats (guy thought maybe grounds or half flat). There’s all sorts of musical stuff I can do with that unusual bridge (moving plucking hand just before it sounds cool and barely muted). I don’t normally like black basses but this one works.
Is that the AFB200?
