I was the one who provided Tuki with the measurements. I didn't describe it as a "Premium AudioKinesis Cab" (though it certainly is)

I own one of the Tuki padded covers for my own ThunderChild cab. Very heavy-duty, looks great, and fits perfectly. Well worth the investment.

Along with my knowledge of chord building, and experimenting with that, I'm using this book which looks pretty good so far:

I might not purchase a "real" guitar amp for quite a while so I'm gonna have quite a time with the thunderchild. A new hollowbody guitar comes first. And who knows, maybe I won't even need a guitar combo. We'll find out.

A lot of jazz guitarists are using "studio monitor" style rigs these days. it could end up being your permanent choice...

I just tried my guitar combo and it sounded fine. Probably helps that I was using my thumb instead of a pick. Lowered the action a lot on my fender strat and that sounds fine too. Might be good for now.

I recommend engaging the rolloff, using low capacitance cables (to avoid placing the resonance in too "bright" of a range), and rolling back the tone control to 4-6 to get rid of the characteristic resonance, to sort of smooth out the guitar's tone without losing high end (besides the very gentle roll-off at the speaker).

Ed Bickert plays a telecaster, and he's possibly Canada's finest jazz guitarist, won numerous Downbeat polls. I've never put much stock in the archtops-only theory, when it comes to jazz guitar.

Still waiting on woodwork, and my deep appreciation for everybody's patience here.

I can finally give an update on the Thunderchild 115 project.

The preferrred compression driver for the Thunderchild 115 is a neodymium magnet driver made by Celestion. It will go low enough to work well in this application, it sounds good (was used in the speakers involved in the studio monitor shootout mentioned a while back), and it weighs significantly less than an equivalent ceramic magnet compression driver.

My original expectation was that I could order the neo magnet compression drivers as I needed them because they are an off-the-shelf item, unlike my custom woofers. That helps my cash-flow, as I wouldn't have so much money tied up in drivers that I've had to buy in advance.

Well the skyrocketing price and plumeting availability of neodymium magnet drivers wrecked that plan. I can no longer be confident that the neo magnet compression drivers I use in one batch of cabinets (if I can get them) will still be available for the next batch of cabinets. One of the selling points of the Thunderchild line is relatively high performance-per-pound, and a heavy ceramic compression driver would be a big let-down.

Well today I was finally able to place an order for enough neodymium magnet compression drivers that I can go ahead and launch the 115 with the driver it's supposed to have. It will be several weeks before I receive them, but money is in the process of changing hands so it looks like it's going to happen.

I have been kinda tentative about giving out an estimated weight for the Thunderchild 15 ever since the supply of neodymium compression drivers became questionable and sporadic. But with the neo magnet compression driver now in the pipeline, we're looking at 41-42 pounds ballpark.

TC112AF for DB gigs, and small stuff.
TC115AF for most everything else.

Stack for Big Stuff.

Duke and I discussed this at some length, and came to the conclusion it made more sense, for me, than 2x112.
And, I get to try both cabs.
