Yes, their low-end response is almost identical, the 115 just being louder than the 112, so they can definitely be used together.

...what are planning to drive them with, a 2 Ohm capable head, a two channel amp, something else entirely?
I've been scratching my head over this for awhile myself.

Both the Walkabout and M9 are single channel, two ohm heads.
112: DB and small gigs, rehearsals, etc
115 medium to large
Stacked; big and outdoors
the only downside is not having a matched pair for pa/home stereo use

I'm hoping to find the $$$ for a second 112AF soon.
Since i won't be gigging with two cabs very often (haven't played a loud gig without PA support in years), my plan is to add a Crown XLS1500. Not much extra weight or expense.
Small gigs; 112 & Genz Streamliner 900
Big gigs: 2*112, SL900 driving power amp
PA and stereo: 2*112, mixer or preamp driving power amp.

I don't know if I'd be willing to carry any cabs if I had to haul a double bass case around

Double Bass: it's big, but, it's light. No prob; you could carry it one handed.

My double bass gigs are dwindling for now. Well, crap, so are my electric gigs... looks like I'm headed into a guitar phase. You guys enjoy carrying around your big stuff while I take a break.

Harmonica is the ace instrument for the light schlep. Even with a whole set or harps and a microphone, it fits in a shoulder bag.

Thought I'd share my experience.
This is my favorite cab I've ever owned hands-down, but like anything else, it has it's limitations.
Well I was able to get past one perceived limitation last night. I've been honest about the TC and EA Doubler on loud electric gigs. (I'm a 50/50 doubler) I just found that when pushing the limits that this combo sounded a bit diffuse. Big and warm, but having trouble "thumping" and cutting through. Well---tried the one port plug last night. Didn't like the single plug at home or with upright. Seemed to lose that big warm low end. Well on loud electric gigs I NEED to lose some of that low end. Everyone in the band complimented me on my sound. Cut through perfectly and I was pretty loud. Now there is one caveat---it's theoretically possible to get "cone rock" from asymmetrically loading the ports (one closed) I was cranking it and had no problems. Now I would strongly recommend CAREFULLY trying this, but I was playing a tough room with a big loud band and the sound was fantastic. Three possible reasons. 1. the low end was down a few db's from 50 to maybe 100hz which was a good thing in this situation. 2.Plugging one port adds a little bit of compression 3. The tuning frequency went down from around 50hz to around 38hz (am I right on this, Duke?). Maybe it's just my perception, (but I think not from lot's of personal experience---not theoretical, but tons of ON THE GIG experience) I find that I get a tighter more defined low end when the port tuning is lower so that there is less musical information coming from the port, but from the speaker. Even when compensating for the inherent loss of low frequency response with eq. To me, the sound is more focused and tighter. I'm going to do a Rube Goldberg experiment and extend both ports (just by friction fitting additional port tubes) to a similar tuning as one plugged. This would eliminate the port compression of just one plugged.

Interesting approach, Mike. The B&W subwoofer I have in my music room has port tubes of various lengths. I'll be eager to hear about the results of your experimentation.

Not sure what it does, but I do remember Duke said 'don't do it' (i.e., only plug one port). He said that would be OK at low volumes, but to be very careful doing that. The reasons why are over my head.

I think Mike did had that part right:
