Hi JD, thank you very much for posting your experiences with the Hathor 1505.

The other cab that you and I have talked about, sorry it's taking me so long! I think I have found all the key pieces of the puzzle now, still need to revise the enclosure but it's all going to happen.

I have to say, I really like the look of the Hathor 212. Not having the big driver enclosure up top improves the look tremendously over the TC212.

That is the new revision of the Hathor 18 that we've been working on. I'm sure Duke will provide additional details when they are finalized. All I can say is that it's gonna be great!

It's official-like. Sent a 1203 back to Duke and got his 1533 (that was used at a recent GTG and commented on in this thread) coming to me!

Sounds like it'll have more mids than a 1203, but less than a 1504. Which should suit me just fine. In the short time I've had a 1203 I use both switches in the up position with good results.

As Shrigg said, it's the 18XX, so it's nothing "new". I've been on a midrange driver quest off and on for the past, what, half-year or so? I'm on my eleventh midrange driver, but this one is looking good.

I'll probably offer two versions, one with and one without tweetage.

Can you share what is your goal with the different midrange driver? Are you chasing a mid-voicing different from the previous 1855?

Jeez, I've been reading through this thread trying to educate myself a little so I can ask better questions when I'm ready to make some decisions, but it's almost impossible to keep up. You guys keep it moving too **** fast!

The response of the 18" woofer that I use "shelves down" by about 4 dB in the 300-400 Hz region. The twin 5" mids that I used in the Hathor 1855 don't quite have enough output down that low, so there's a slight dip in that region. That's what I'm trying to fill in, without size/weight/cost growing too much. I just need the mid to "help out" a bit down there, NOT to carry half the load. Still, efficiency in that region and thermal power handling are major considerations... it's an honest 1400 watt woofer [<-EDIT: that should have been "1200 watts"] and I don't want the midrange driver to be the limiting factor.
