AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Good guess! A few years ago I tried mounting a 12" guitar speaker in front of an 18" woofer. It "worked" once I figured out how to keep the woofer from "pumping" the guitar speaker (which was unenclosed), but the voicing did not sit in the mix well. But it was a great learning experience.

The "twist" in the 110's midrange section is actually something different, and needless to say my marketing department hopes that you will find it to be irresistibly clever.

The footprint will be the same width as the 1203, but three inches shallower (the actual cabinet depth on the Hathor 1203 is 13", and the actual cabinet depth on the 110 will be 10", plus a bit of grille pooch-outage in both cases).

I'm thinking that, since we'll end up without as much in the way of growly, maybe I can push the voicing a bit more in the direction of double-bass-friendly, to make this more of a "doubler" cab, which can be paired with a second cab like the 1203 for louder electric gigs.

I hadn't thought of that! I guess it doesn't really make a lot of sense for me to have two cabs the same size that do essentially same thing.

Okay time for a "this reminds me of..."

Sylvester Stallone was on the Johnny Carson show right after the movie "Cobra" came out. Johnny says, "Isn't Cobra just like another Rambo movie?"

Stallone replies: "No no you don't understand, they're totally different. You see, Rambo's got five letters in it, and Cobra... starts with 'C'."

I have loved Sylvester Stallone ever since.

(Notice how I didn't really address the "two cabs that do the same thing" issue, just sorta changed the subject??)

Well, I consider my AK112 truly amazing, so a smaller doublers version I would expect would be the same. :)

Thank you very much, but unfortunately that's not something I'm planning to do at this point.

The Kappalite 3010LF has 8.5 millimeters of linear excursion, which is about twice the excursion of most good 10" woofers. But I would hesitate to claim that it will go as loud as an average 210 cab, as other things can be the limiting factor.

Okay!

Two side notes I'd like to insert: First a major thank-you to my customers whose cabs are almost done, you guys have been very patient with me. Second, final assembly is going to be a bit slow because one of my hands is pretty much out of commission temporarily (saw kicked back and hyper-extened my thumb on my left hand... that's the good hand, the one with the most fingers). And any further product development, like on the 110, will have to wait until I fill the orders that are overdue (at least one of which is actually for a new product, so that product will get developed).
