AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

The new Hathor 1863 is a go, it will be there. Eighteen inch woofer, 6" cone mid, and two 3" cones used as tweeters. Yes, I realize that's actually an 18633, but I am operating under a self-imposed moratorium on using cab names that have more than four digits in them. Four ohms, 96 dB, 1.2 kilowatts, 56 pounds.

The new little 110 will hopefully make it to Seattle, I have been planning on it but the Duratex isn't dry yet.

I don't expect either the Hathor 1863 or the new 110 to beat the Thunderchild 112AF at its own game.

Cabinet dimensions are same as the little Birdhaus, which is 18" tall by 14" wide by 10" deep, plus a bit of grille pooch-outage. I'm not sure what the weight will be - that depends in part on how heavy the crossover turns out. It will use the Kappalite 3010LF, so it will be a little bit less efficient than my 112 cabs.

27" tall by 22" wide by 14" deep, plus a bit of grille pooch-outage. So it's wide enough for a rack-mounted amp, and barely wide enough for the feet of an SVT, in theory at least.

Let me get a little bit closer to having it ready to go, and then I'll explain it. In a way it will be old news, and in a way it will be a new twist on old news.

but, really, i has to have something that can be perceived as just being one eye.

Well today was a "two steps backwards" day... I made a mistake in the enclosure layout and will have to build a new enclosure. No way the Duratex would be dry in time, so the Hathor 1863 will be the only new AudioKinesis cab at the Emerald City Bass Convention this year.

The Kappalite 3010LF doesn't have as nice a top end as the 3012LF, so imo it needs to be crossed over lower. Compression drivers don't like to go down very low, at least not the ones that are practical for a small bass cab, so the top end will be based on the same little 3" cone mid that I've been using, but there will be a difference that I want to hold off talking about just yet.

More towards the Hathor side, but because the top end of the 3010LF doesn't really conform to my "zig where the guitars zag" paradigm, the 110 will probably be more like a Hathor cab without as much of a "growly" setting.

Ooh. I'm sure we'll all find out in time but I'm guessing that the 3" driver is mounted in some clever position such as in front of the woofer.

A cab even smaller than the Hathor 1203 that does a similar thing but without the growly setting is appealing. Even better if the footprint stacks with the 1203 so they could be used together allowing the Hathor to add a bit of mids with the switch up, or run both smooth when that's what is needed.
