AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Has anyone requested a refund?
Yeah, I sent a refund request 28 Jul 2020. Haven't heard anything.

I might be among the longer waits thru a combined error of both Duke and I. Order placed 24 Oct 2018. Yes, 2018 LOL. Two cabs. He forgot to put my order in the batch he was gonna start and, for a year, I'd forgotten about the order and never did a status check. We both derped.

Contacted him 05 Oct 2019 (when I finally remembered LOL) for a status check. Said he'd forgotten and would tattoo my order to his forehead. Said it'd be ready in about 3 to 4 months (Jan/Feb this year) and wouldn't charge me shipping. I was cool with all that. My wife, on the other hand...

Anyway, haven't heard anything since.

Still not upset about it. These are incredibly challenging times for everyone.

...this seems so out of character - I can vouch, my cab was a fair bit late as well - but the product MORE than makes up for it - IMO.
I remember a year or so ago, he had flooding issues, ruining his working area - that was the delay for mine. I think Duke is a perfectionist - and when things aren't 100%, (his shop and materials) he won't hash a piece of junk together just for the sake of getting the order out.

Having said that - i am not defending the lack of communication - he needs to rectify that part and/or reach out to someone, to let guys know he is still making things right....life happens...and this COVID B.S., hasn't helped the world to roll smoothly - albeit the carbon footprint did well during it! ;)

Hello, I'm still alive, but I have dropped the ball for many of you, and I have not come here and communicated like I should have.

I think I am caught up on refunds as of a few minutes ago but if not, please let me know. And if anyone else would like a refund, please shoot me an e-mail. I will be more careful about keeping up with my e-mails.

I've had some time-consuming aging-parent related obligations, but I've also been guilty of trying to put out "forest fires" instead of sticking to schedules. And I have had some mental altertness issues, which have resulted in mistakes and do-overs. And I have been guilty of unrealistic optimism about how long it would take me to get things done. I don't like to talk about my health issues but I have a condition called "central sleep apnea" which is where my brain forgets to tell my body to breathe. So I don't get very much sleep, and am exhausted most of the time.

Anyway I think I can do one or two cabs a week. My plan is to get caught up before I start accepting new orders, and then I'll have to limit the number of orders so that they don't become overwhelming.

Many of you have reached out to me and I appreciate that very much, and I apologize to all of you for how I have handled this.

Again, if anyone would like a refund, please let me know.

@DukeLeJeune

Glad to hear things are getting back on track for you. You have a lot of people here in your corner. I am not looking for a refund; I would be lying if I didn't say more communication (like this) wouldn't be nice though. I'm in no rush. Take care of your health first and just keep me up to date on how things are going from time to time and I'll be fine. Take care!

Your peeps have spoken.

Take care of yourself FIRST!

We're all rooting for you.

Thank you all very much. My refund offer stands if anyone's situation changes.

@DukeLeJeune any thoughts of selling plans/kits/flat packs?

That's an interesting idea.

One issue with the lightweight plywood that I use is, getting a lot of surface area into play in the glue joints. I use dados and rabbets to get a lot of surface area glued together, which calls for lots of clamps, and it's the "lots of clamps" aspect that is impractical for do-it-yourselfers. I'm talking hundreds of dollars of clamps, even considering that I buy 'em at Harbor Freight.

One possible solution would be for the kits to use a stronger and heavier plywood, which works well with pocket screws and butt joints and PL Adhesive, but then the weight goes up considerably.

I'll mull it over and see if I can come up with a solution that retains the lightweight plywood, because I think that's one of my selling points.

BUT FIRST, I gotta get caught up on some orders.

This sounds like a future project for when things calm down :D
