I got the replacement crossover from Avatar this week and finally got the chance to install it tonight. I can say the crossover certainly looks a lot nicer and cleaner and it did the trick, cab sounds like a million bucks again, all frequencies clearly and evenly represented! Also, whilst waiting for the crossover I took the liberty of ordering some sturdier hardware (#12 screws) to better hold things in place including the grill which I also "upgraded" with a custom number from Reliable Hardware, I think it looks more "finishes". In addition I installed some nice feet to get it up off the ground and keep it level and steady. I also covered any remaining bare internal areas with insulation. Purchased a folding hand truck and some wedges to tip it back for stage monitoring do I should be good to go now, lol. Updated pics below.
This is the exact cab that I received close to if not a year ago and I am still happy with it. I was happy when I saw it in the Classifieds I use a GK 700RBII and a US Cirrus Bubinga Birch and it sound like it was made for it.
Any opinions on how this crossover would perform in my 4 ohm TB153? I would disconnect the tweeter.

My crossover is blown. Dave offered to sell me a replacement for $60. However, the standard Emminence pieces seem to crossover at 500 Hz and I don't use the tweeter.

I am playing with this configuration (in the rehearsal studio) and want to know if anyone else has tried this (on stage) and what has been their result
both cabs are 4ohm and the Titan is set to the 2ohm position

Does Avatar no longer offer the 3015LF in an 8 ohm cab? I'm picking one up used and would like another to match. Thanks!

Yeah, I got thinking after your FB message from last week. I just picked up one of the cabs and it is exactly what I was looking for.
Dave got back to me and said that he could possibly special order one of the 8 ohm drivers but it would be a bit more expensive. I'm gonna scour the used market for a bit and if nothing turns up, I will probably get him to do that.

I am really bummed out to learn that someone has broken into my church and stole many items including my TB153 4ohms, line-x covering and 3015lf. When your stuff isn't safe at church then where is it safe at. This is the cab that Kaiser_Sosea owned first.
That is really sad. Post about your stolen gear on CL and in the stolen gear folder here at TB, and keep an eye on the pawn shops and flea markets. I don't keep my best or most valuable gear at church and it's in a locked closet in a locked room. Before the double-locked closet there were numerous thefts of musical gear. :scowl:
Church just moved in on a landcontract and the insurance for contents not in place yet, only the structure is insured with the owner. I am debating another tb153 or go all out and build a fearful and check the classifieds. I am blessed to still have my GK 410 NEO which was at home along with all of my basses and my 700rb2.
Yes there are some I just have to get my money in a place where I can manage to buy another 15/6/1 fearful, LDS or Avatar.

So the church is "self-insured" until the content insurance gets paid for.
They should be offering to cover it for you. In fact, I'd expect them to cover it.
FYI: If you itemize your taxes, you can write it off as a loss.

I am really sorry to hear of your loss. Those are sweet cabinets. It can't be going far, and that is a very unique cabinet. I would bet it will reappear.
That sad fact is no gear is 100% safe, really. Insurance helps, but sad to say, that is an expense a lot of bassists can't manage. Make sure the congregation understands the significance of your loss. I would bet they will help out.
Well I know that the church can't cover it because I am a trustee at the church and I handle the bank accounts. The best I can do is ne thankful for what I still have and move on.
Playing my TB153 4ohm w/Markbass F1 head, JoBo 5er bass with a traditional c&w band last nite. In mid-song started to hear distortion on low notes.
Anything from about below low-G sounded distorted and like it was coming outta the 6" mid. When I played above; about low-A on up no noise with volume lowered. I took the bass and low mids outta the head, lowered volume knobs on bass, it got better. Even then playing any low notes again distortion came right back.
I used this cab, same band, same room, same head, same bass a few times in the past and at louder volumes. Was a small crowd so we kept our volumes down. This distortion just came on suddenly in a slow ballad of all tunes. Maybe its' just a loose soldered wire or something. I'll open it up soon and check out the insides. This is the older X-over and I'd read where some had issues with that. But that was usually noticed right away, like right after they bought it or played thru it awhile. I've owned this cab since last summer.
With 7 other cabs that I rotate for my gigs in different bands, it has never been abused or blown out volume wise. Again, could be something loose. Wondering if the 6" mid could have blown or just that older xover haunting me like others have had?
If I don't see anything out of ordinary when I open it up, I'll call Dave @ Avatar, I hear he's pretty cool guy.

Check all the driver bolts/screws. I had distortion coming from my 15/6 and it was caused by the 15 inch drivers' bolts not being torqued down tight enough. This enabled vibration between the baffle and the driver which sounded like distortion. Only happened on lower notes of my 4 string J.
