I found out about Avatar from thegearpage.net but I imagine they are pretty much 'internet only'. See them mentioned on harmony-central as well.

gotta say....great service. DAVE answers questions quickly and ships stupid fast. I got my 2x10 the day after I ordered it. I paid for ground shipping. $30 or something.

The horn placement will cause a little bit of goofiness in the upper registers, around where the horn is crossed over, but to be honest so little is going on up there I doubt many people will notice. Just my two pence.

It's not optimal, but the degradation is probably hard to notice. Most people can't tell that a 4x10 is beaming so I doubt they'll notice some 5khz cancellations.

If I notice 5kHz cancellations, that means I need to adjust my treble.

I accept that the tweeter placement/design is not optimal on paper, but I also have serious doubts that this theoretical fault is even marginally meaningful in the real world. If I were to alter something about mine, it'd be changing the 3/4 ply for 1/2 inch to shave the weight. This box thumps clear, low and hard at an absolutely unbeatable price.
If they offered a 50 lb version in lighter ply I'd order it now, even at twice the price!

Lomo, quick question... how does this compare in terms of volume to your walkabout scout stack? I know you mentioned the Walkabout head wasn't the best pairing with this cab, but was that more due to tone or volume? (apologies if i missed it earlier in the thread.)

I see lomo offline, or I wouldn't speak for him, but;

it may be that his WA has suffered a tube failure, and that's what it wasn't running so hot with the TB153. He's ordered up some new tubes, expect him to report back maybe here, and for sure in the WA megathread.

Yup. Back after a rare, jewel of a day off with my sweetie-go see the film Barney's Version if you dig art on screen. No car chase or violence, just perfection in cinema IMHO. But I digress.....

As Chef said, I'm 90% confident my WA has a bum tube and this'll be remedied next week. I CAN say that my M6 on top of the 153 (as compared to it on my Scout 12 stack) is louder and faaaaaaaar better defined down low. No comparison in terms of definition on the low B. Not sure if it's lower overall yet. I love my Scout 12s, but IMO they do not compare so far. In addition, the 153 can take almost all the M6 can offer (I couldn't stand to push it to its' limit), but I have to back it off the Scout stack 'cause I hear the 12s compressing at a lower input than the 153 takes easily. Caveat-have not played the 153 cab out yet.

My first impression is Avatar has another real winner with the TB153 cabinet. Great componets and construction at a unbeatable price.
Like to hear one live, but I'll probably stick with my two Avatar 210 Neo cabs for quite awhile.

I anyone is planning on getting two of these, has anyone contacted Dave to see if they could get the baffle flipped on one to get a right/left hand symmetry? For stacking you'd flip one upside down on top of the other and the mids/tweeters would be vertically aligned. Run this stack with a Shuttle Max 12.0 and you'd have a force to reckon with. :bassist:
