+1 on the 212!!!! i was skeptical at first. i was looking at Avatars when they still made the 115 and by the time i had the cash to get mine they were discontinued....i was worried it wouldn't have the low end i needed but IMO a 212 not only has enough low end it has a better response time. if you can go down to 2 omh and plan to always go down that low id start with the 112 4 omh then add the 410 4 omh later (or vice a versa) i LOVE my 112/410 stack...although id really like to replace the 410 with a 210 but that just cuze "i gots the bad back"....maby from slinging a bass around for 18 years

Not big, but would be nice to get an amp that can get loud with a PA. What is the difference between the 2x12 and the 4x10 other than speaker size? Is one better for a certain genre of music than the other?

We have plenty of 410 owners who could chime in, but in general, the 212 is going to be a bit more 'up front' with a touch more bark to it than the 410. Both will bring the thunder, but the 410 will move serious air as well...a bit more than the 212. Either cabinet can be 'dialed up' on your amp for more of this or that to your liking, but in general a 212 will be a bit more upfront in the mix, while the 410 is likely a bit more seismic Other opinions will vary!

Either cab will be VERY loud! And I think either would work well for your type of music. But if you're playing some more lead-type bass, have a look at the 212. A great combo for you would be a 212 and 210 together

I just have a 212 matched to a GK 700 RBII. I haven't had the opportunity to trot this thing out to a rehearsal yet , but I know it's going to do great. We're on a 'summer sabbatical' that's beyond my control.

For now, the 212 is cool because we only have one guitarist so I'll have a bit more 'space' to fill, but they want to add another guitarist and possibly a keyboard player, so the extra projection will come in handy.

Before I bought it, I tried out 4x10's and 1x15's extensively, so was able to form some opinions on those configurations from there. I used a 1x15 Ampeg combo (BA115) with the band prior to my new rig.

Standard and drop D mainly. I don't have a cab, but a combo and a head I cannot use and havn't played that I got on TB for $170 on 04-02-2008 from a fellow TB member.

damn 4 mo and you haven't got to jam thru it yet? that must be killing ya!!! i remember WAY back...early 90s...when i got my hartke stack...i was playing thru a Kustom P.O.S. D) head with only one out put...and my hartkes had single inputs per cab....3 months till i got my first "big boy head" a GK 400B (circa 1975) OMG i was THE rock star!!! hehehe....best of luck to ya man and lets us know how it turns out.

thats where i was man...and about your age...the only reason i got the GK is i pawned my Charvel CX-490 and a Yamaha Deluxe to get the rest of the cash (got the Charvel back but let the Yamaha go...wish i wouldn't have thoe). i looked for two weeks to find it and when i did i wasn't about to let it go. keep pounding that bass everyday....all the "cool" kids want to play guitar but playing bass well will last you a life time....someone is always looking for a good, reliable bassets...and we can be hard to find

FWIW I own a Neo 410 amd 2 neo 210's. I prefer the 210's stacked over the single 410.

It sure would, but with your particular amp that is fine and happy with 4 and 2 ohm loads, I'd highly recommend you roll with 4 ohm cabinet(s) UNLESS you are planning on going to a different amp that won't support a 2 ohm load. Going with 4 ohm will get the most performance out of your Peavey.

what do the 210's sound like?

Sound well first off can hear really well as they are stacked so I have 10" speaker about at chin level. Also the 2 cabinets combined take up a bit more space so appear to have a few more inches for more volume in each of them. I used to tilt my 410 back to try to hear it better but it isn't the same as the above.

The Neo210's can get very deep and yet crisp at the same time. I have the horns all but rolled off as it is so crisp at times.

My Acoustic B200h has two high controls and I roll them both down to about 9. Finaly my 5 string has no troble being heard with these two.
