Not sure if this is the right place to put this question.
I have a SVT4 Pro, which has bi-amp capability.
My Avatar 4x10 Neo is 8ohms
What am I better off doing:
1) Buying a 2x12 at 8ohms, mono bridging the amp and running both cabs in parallel (4 ohm load)
2) Buying a 2x12 at 4ohms and selling my 8 ohm 4x10 and buying another 4x10 at 4 ohms. Run each from the separate amps in the SVT4
Power numbers from amp's manual:
1200W @ 4Ω mono-bridged
490W @ 4Ω for each amp by itself (so 980W if you add it)
The reason I would lean towards the two 4Ω cabs is I would have more control over each cab--I could cross them over or throw some effects at one and not the other.
Any thoughts?

Hi Tom...I'd like to help you here, but I have not heard an Eden 210 since the 1990's LOL...and I've never heard a 210Neo yet (though I'll be getting one at some point to pair up with my 212), so I can't give you an educated opinion...hopefully someone with experience on those two will chime in soon.

Truthfully, I'dd just add another 8ohm 212 in this case parallel. If for the simple reason of not wanting to return the 8ohm 212

so ill jump in on this....i have the Avatar 212 neo...and LOVE it!!! with my band tuned to B F# B E G# B i HAD to have some mid range cut. i was running a 410/115 hartke stack but it was just lacking something...and not knowing if id really like the 12s the price of the Avatars was right....now im hooked!!!! looking forward to adding a 210 to it soon. ill try to post pix soon but ive had troubles with that but you can see them lurking on my bands page myspace.com/sonicash. thanx slaphappy for starting this thread....ive been enjoying it

AHHHHH the life of a bass player....a touch late and a beat off !!! what are ya gonna do? # 112 it is!!! so since there is so many of us now maby someone else has this going on....i have a GK 700RB II and id like to use the HMS (Bi amp) and id like to rewire the cab to accept it...has anyone else done it? ive talk to many about this and i get varying answers from "don't bother" to "just wire it up by by passing the cross over running the 12s in full range". suggestions anyone? ive even thought of ripping the cross over apart and using its parts for the low side of it. i want to use the tweeter but with how high i run my boost its really scratchy and after i heard you shouldn't turn the L-pad all the way down due to heat build up (its true i took my jack plate off and the insulation was melted to the high end part of it) and you shouldn't disconnect the tweeter because the amp will see it as a "dead short" (i think thats what they called it) im really confused 
any real world experiences?

No can help with that question, but you might consider asking Dave at Avatar for his opinion.

Nappa, that Peavey MkIV is about 200w at 4 ohms, or 300 at 2 ohms, is that correct?

Close. 210w (RMS) at 4ohms, 300w (RMS) at 2. Metal, rock, industrial. Though it being versatile would be nice. Weight isn't really and issue. One cab for now.

I think you might be leaning to a 4 ohm 212 or 410. Both weigh in around 60 lbs or less (my 212 is about 52 lbs).
You can also run by your requirements with Dave at Avatar and he'll give you an honest answer as to what would work best. Be sure to provide amp info/specs like you did here, type of music, and typical gig size and any other info pertinent to helping form a good response.

Not big, but would be nice to get an amp that can get loud with a PA. What is the difference between the 2x12 and the 4x10 other than speaker size? Is one better for a certain genre of music than the other?

+1 on the 212!!!! i was skeptical at first. i was looking at Avatars when they still made the 115 and by the time i had the cash to get mine they were discontinued....i was worried it wouldn't have the low end i needed but IMO a 212 not only has enough low end it has a better response time. if you can go down to 2 omh and plan to always go down that low id start with the 112 4 omh then add the 410 4 omh later (or vice a versa) i LOVE my 112/410 stack...although id really like to replace the 410 with a 210 but that just cuze "i gots the bad back"....maby from slinging a bass around for 18 years
