Avocado!!!

We've been substituting Greek yogurt in place of sour cream lately.

Love the Greek style yogurt. In any case, I use maybe one tablespoon of dairy product per batch of guac, which in my case usually means two large avocados. Complex fat profiles rule as far as taste.

In Akron, Ohio there is a place called West Point Market. They make their own guacamole. The BEST I've ever had. We don't get down there too often, but when we do............

I used to not like them as a kid, the texture (and as was already established before in the hater thread, im not a picky eater, and i was probably even less as a kid, i think one of the issue too is i expected this to be a sweet tasting fruit instead of a kinda vegetabley one). But in my early adulthood, i learned to appreciate them.

Hass is my favorite variety. .

I dont know, personally i think they taste like Hass.

Thank you. thank you, i'll be here all night. Try the guacamole.

This is a thread to share your love of Avocado. Living in California, avocado makes its way into a lot of local cuisine. I've actually had more exposure to avocado in Mexican food up here in NorCal than when I lived in SoCal. I'm a BIG fan, its a wonderful addition to sandwiches, tacos and burritos.

Wait, where in NorCal are you?

Also NorCal Mexican is waay better then SoCal...

As of right now, I'm in Chile, been here for 5 months staying for a bit under 2 more.
They are referred to as "Paltas" down here, and are extremely plentiful and rather inexpensive.
There are 2 types, the bumpy skinned (more green) and the smooth skinned (more black)
The smooth ones are supposed to have a "richer" flavour.
I went out with my uncle to a house and we just picked them off trees IN BUNCHES, pretty crazy doing that when in the states (Northeast PA) they are hard to come by and somewhat pricey depending on the time of year.
The kicker is, I don{t like avocados at all, not too into the flavour, can{t really stomach them. Which kind of sucks because they are so plentiful and everyone really likes them, I digress though.
Just wanted to share a quick story for the palta lovers on TB.
Oh yeah, also, they are good in sushi though.
