Bacchus VS Sadowsky Metro

Yeah that made me flinch a little, too! Should we start a Bacchus club?!
Mine new one left the airport today so more updates as I get them!!
P.s I am unsure if I have told you lot about this already but I recently had a Villex booster installed in my jazz. you can read the review and hear the bass here

17.5%? My, my, don't you have it easy over there?
Over here it's 21% VAT plus 4.3% import duty on the cost of the instrument (including the cost of shipping). It's nasty when the van arrives but it still works out a lot cheaper than buying in any of the shops over here.
My god that is really bad! Does it have to be shipped from the UK or does it go directly from Japan to you? I see what you mean about it still being cheaper though - the fact it is so easy and cheap also makes you naturally look abroad for basically anything rather than pay 'Rip-Off Britain' prices.
They usually come direct, from Ishibashi you'd get it in 5 working days, they have superb service. Anything from outside the EU gets hit for tax, even so both of my Bacchuses together cost a lot less than one new Stingray here. It's crazy.
PS. Not slagging EBMM or Stingrays in any way, just using the price of one as a comparison.

20% over the prices on those new bacchus basses put you in the general price range of a used sadowsky metro...

That price would take some beating for a bass of that quality.
I'll take a used Bacchus over a new plastic/poly coated Metro any day.
My Bacchus made it from Japan to the East Coast of the U.S. in 3 days, and with no import taxes, duties, fines, extra charges etc.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way myself, though if I see something like your old style P come up I'll be on it like a rash. The last thing I need is another J 5... although you never know
Having hand pain from playing 5ers is probably saving me a lot of money. I love my LeCompte 5er and plan on keeping it. If I could play 5s without any problems, that would be 2 X the gas

Silly stuff...There's nothing wrong with the poly finishes on the sadowsky basses and they protect the wood a lot better than oil or a thin coat of lacquer and they're better for the environment.

Having hand pain from playing 5ers is probably saving me a lot of money. I love my LeCompte 5er and plan on keeping it. If I could play 5s without any problems, that would be 2 X the gas
It's a toughie alright, I find myself wanting the 5s and then thinking "I could use a 4 string version of that too"
