Can't find much on the ak series, some say its the same as hydrive but all paper cone

Correct...the VX and AK are all paper cones. I get a nice deep punch from them. Never tried the aluminum cone brands for comparison but hope to get a Hydrive someday.....

From what I understand.... the difference between the Hydrive speaker and the Hydrive HD speaker is, the Hydrive HD has Kevlar in the paper. Soooo... I would assume the HD actually stand for Heavy Duty. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The new cones are Kevlar/Aluminum so should be durable. My HD-112 is backordered at Sweetwater.

I've never had a chance to try the 4-10 but I have the HD112 and I think its the best bang-for-buck bass cab ever. I'm going to get a second one soon...

Have you tried it at both 8 ohms and 4 ohms? It has the switch on the back.

Similar situation - I was in a Sam Ash browsing for other cabs and the original Hartke 115 HyDrive I plugged into just because... Loved the tone and got it.

My old HA3000 was a favorite amp.

Yes, I have used it in both the 4 and the 8 positions, with different amps. Ran it for a while as an extension for my 1-10 Carvin combo and the two cabs together sounded like there was also a phantom 18 rattling the walls...

I don’t see any issues with Hartke suffering from producing a well enough low end response. Maybe try out some GK’s since they definitely produce TONS of low end.

I have 2 of the new HD 112s and I must say they sound fantastic. Got rid of my fender rumbles. Pushing them with the lh1000.
Thinking about adding a 3rd 112 for more volume at bigger venues that don't have PA support.

At that point this is where I wish Hartke made 212 cabinets

I now have two HD112s, am also planning to add a third. I like the modular approach.

What would also be interesting is if they would make an "HD48" cabinet, similar to the 508 Combo:

The HD115 is a fantastic cab. I ran a Fender Super Bassman through one, and it really kicked!!! Now I've scaled down to a Hartke HD75 Combo that sounds great!

As close to a 115?? Really?
I have the 115. Great cab.. Performs more like a sub because of it's ability to go so low without breaking up.
I find the hd twelves have better midrange and articulation.

The HyDrive 12's are pretty hard to beat for a good overall sound. An HD212 cab would be something.
