Baer Amplification Megathread!

So...spent a fun filled afternoon having a little gtg with Funkboy, who is an A-1 class act for those don't know him. He is the new and proud owner of my ML212. My situation has changed and I am really taking a step back and downsizing equipment and spending the next 6 months or so working on my playing. I found a new teacher and have a lot to work on at my ripe old age of almost 44. I am of course keeping my ML112 as my one cab for now. Let me tell you, we tried a bunch of stuff with both Baers and I have to say, the Walkabout just KILLED with either or both Baers. We had that baby powering both cabs together and it was a religious experience, amazing how good the notes sounded. What a good amp/cab combo that head and any of the Baers was. I'll let Funkboy speak for himself because I'm sure he'll be over to introduce his new cab eventually, but he was admittedly a bit of a Baer skeptic when he got to my place. It took about 10 minutes and he was a believer.

The Fender Bassman 100t just showed up on my radar today. Any chance an ML112 user has used the cab with this head?
That combo would likely kill. A local TB'er was going to try to make one of my gigs and bring her 100T for me to check out. I can say that tubes (Monique) + ML112(s) = win.

Not that particular head, but I've used my ML-112's with a variety of tube heads, and they play very nicely together. My guess is that it would be a great matchup.

I haven't tried the bassman yet, but I love it with my Read tube pre, and STL900. I also used it with the walkabout with fantastic results.
So far I only disliked it with the M6, but I think that was more the head than the cab... And I do love Mesa gear. Loved my 400+.
I think Monique and Valkyrie is calling my name too. I'm very jealous of Nostatic's rig! Nice!
I love my M6 but I didn't like it in combo with ML 112 cab.
Perhaps the ML112 is due another chance. I've moved to a TecAmp Jag 900. A Mesa Prodigy or Fender 100t smells like my future.
Now that I have a Valkyrie to play with, I've sold all my other amps, except one. The Walkabout stays!

Nice enough amp, the Walkabout, but, compare and contrast?
I'd like the Walkabout as my lone amp if:
it could cop more modern when I wanted it to
it had enough headroom to give you "that Walkabout thing" at higher SPL.
It constant falls about 300 watts short of that, for me; at least in medium/big clubs.
For smaller/middlin' venues, rehearsal, studio...it's sweet;
and with a Sadowsky in front of it, it can get fairly close to modern enough.

Walkabout + ML-112 = win in my book. It got even better with the Fdeck HPF-3 I recently added. Better yet since I discovered that the HPF-3 is activated by the output jack vs. the input jack. I left a cable in the output jack for a week and it was dead when I went to use it...

I keep the Walkabout just because I really like the amp and don't have the heart to part with it. My son uses it in his rig. He has this cheap ass Peavey jazz bass with completely dead strings. He runs that through the Walkabout into an early ML112 prototype that has a Celestion mid. Very little upper mids, pretty much zero treble and he gets an absolutely gorgeous old school thumping sound through this rig that is the just the bomb.

I'm glad I read this! I just received my hpf series 3 a few days ago and plugged just the output in my rack thinking leaving the input unplugged would save the battery. Guess not!
If I would have checked the wiring when I installed the battery, I could've avoided killing it prematurely! Live & learn, share knowledge when you can...
