Baer Amplification Megathread!

...That's making me really want to grab a VTI, been running a Sadowsky which gives my bass a good round tone, but doesn't impart any gritty character, and I'd really like something that does better at rolling off the ultra lows and highs while imparting that rounded tube character. This sounds like my cup of tea!

Sounds like it might do the trick for you. The Character feature is a bass enhance circuit that gives you a slight bump in low end, but centered above where the low end EQ is centered on your bass. It's very subtle, but that's exactly the point of this feature. It just rounds out your tone a bit, without the engineer thinking you just boosted the bass. If you didn't know what this circuit did, it would be very hard for someone to guess what s actually going on. It really does just change the character of the instrument a bit.

The Bandwidth (what it is called now) control will roll off highs and deep lows at the same time. This effect is quite subtle to the ear, regardless of the dramatic change to the frequency response you see on a RTA. What it's doing is rolling off frequencies you really don't hear much and by doing so, tightens up the way your bass sits within the mix. Pulls some signal out of the kick drum and cymbal areas, which is very helpful for focusing your bass in the mix.

Hi Roger. Any updates on the new ML212 V2?

Finally got a woofer we are happy with and are working on the crossover at the moment. It's really a totally different cab than the previous cab. So far, so good. Box is smaller and lighter than before and puts out more to boot!

Saw this on FB as well. :)

Are you using the Eden to drive all three cabs, or does the GB drive one of them?

I can mix an match amps and cabs depending on my taste and my Radial A/B-Y pedal.
The WT800 can take up to four single twelves with no issue. ( my fourth is a GB Neo12x)
The Streamliner can do up to two as can the Traynor YBA-1A.
When combinig and using the class D amp, I have to switch the polarity 180 deg on the second channel in the pedal. But the Eden and the '69Traynor play together quite well.

Cool, thanks.

Do you have to use the Balance knob when you use three (two on one side, one on the other) or do you bridge into three of them in parallel?

Trying to figure out whether I should go with three single 12s, or two doubles. I appreciate the advice.

I don't bridge into three. Bridge impedance is 4 ohm. Although I could put 3 on one side as it can do 2 ohm per side, I don't do that.
I can hook two series I's on one side (220 w each) and the series II on the other (300 w). I use the series II as the single. I can use the balance knob as you say, but sometimes I don't bother. Then just have to decide whether to put the series II on top or bottom of the stack.

This is a bit off current topic, but I'm about 8 or 9 months in from purchasing 2 ML112s and I like them more today than ever. I guess that is due to being more familiar with how they react to my amps and different venues now. Here's a pic from last night at the local amphitheater "opening" for Tesla/Styx/Def Leppard. Ok ok.. it's the little stage in the VIP area ;)

Hey J0616bass, just curious... What's your setting on your STL for your ML for the P bass. I recently picked up a STL 600 and am still learning it's control interactivity. So far I love it.
Right now I have gain on then,
12:00
12:00
11:00
1:30 @ 600hz
11:00
Across from left to right,
And then Master for volume.

Edit: my P has flats.

Yeah, even though it has fewer controls than some, it took me awhile to figure out what works best. Still a work in progress, really.

Gsin in,10, 2, 10:30, 10:30 at 600, 10:30. The gain setting real depends on your tonal goals and gear of course. I like to slightly overdrive my tone only when really playing hard.

I use these settings for my Streamliner/Baer ML112s with P5s. for flats I might bump the mids a touch.
gain: on
Gain 1
Volume 11
Bass 10
Mid 1/220hz
treble 11
