Baer Amplification Megathread!

Heal up soon, Bluesy. Thanks for your insight. I am thinking of adding a Series II ML112 eventually as I get the sense it is more my tone preference than the Series I. Likely only need both for a hand full of gigs a year, but I could still bring both for fun.
It's a noticeable upgraded tone. Worth the upgrade.

I love my ML-115!!!! So much detailed lows!!! I do not have the Mesa Prodigy anymore or the Walkabout. I was hoping to get a Sadowsky SA-200 but I think I might just get the Mesa Strategy instead.

A killer combo is the 112 and the 115 together / stacked. These are Series II 112's.
Sorry just saw the post today. Had left wrist surgery yesterday. It is indeed fractured and now repaired- won't be playing for a long time.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery BC.

Anyone with updates, photos, details, price, release time on the VTI DI?
I have photos from NAMM. I'll let @R Baer chime in...

Hey Guys, sorry it to so long to respond to this. The VTI got a fairly major redo last year. As some may have noticed, we dropped the drive knob. I was just finding the drive knob to be a redundant feature, like having two volume knobs on an amp. We REALLY needed to cut back production cost and assembly time, so we decided the drive knob could go. Now, you simply lower the gain for clean and crank it up for a little more woolly sound.

I also did a change up on the Character and Bandwidth controls. On the previous design, the Bandwidth (HPF/LPF) was on a knob and the Character (bass boost) was on a switch. What I was finding was that although the Character bass boost was only +2db and worked nicely to fatten up the low end just a touch, it didn't always work perfect on every instrument. So we moved that to a knob, which now allows for 0 to +4dB of boost. We also lowered the center a bit and widened to Q a tad. It's now a much more usable control

The Bandwidth control, which was on a knob, was such a subtle tone control that it seemed everyone who tried it either ran it on full Min, or full Max. So, we decided it made more sense to move the Bandwidth on a switch. Now, you are either full bandwidth in FULL, or engage a -9dB cut on both the low end and top end with the switch in the TRIM position. I know 9dB on each end sounds like it would make your tone totally mid heavy, but that's not the case, due to how the filters were designed. The effect is very subtle. It's main function is a make your bass take up less space in the mix, which is always a good thing. If you do feel like the slight loss of deep lows is thinning your sound too much, you can now dial in a little low boost from the Character knob, which is centered above the HPF cutoff point. This lends for a nice R&B kind of low end that I think sounds really great. Think less 40Hz and more 80Hz.

All this took a long time, but I think it was worth it. We got everything on one PCB now, which will make a huge difference during assembly. I still have a few hurdles to overcome, but I'm really hoping we are getting to within a few months to get these out. My apologies again for the delays. Life has thrown a lot at us the last year, or so and I haven't always been able to give the new products the attention and cash flow they need to make it to market quickly.

Sounds like smart changes. Really looking forward to the release!

Output is up to line level I assume? Project Studio situations (low budget home studios) often need the hotter signal for their interfaces.

Is this technically a Preamp or a strictly a tube D/I?

The DI level let's you go from roughly mic level to line level.

You could use it either way. There is a THRU jack on the rear that is tapped from the input jack. You would use that as a bypass into your amplifier's input. There is also a 1/4" POST jack which would let you use the box as a preamp in front of your amp.

So it could drive a stand-alone power amp as well then?
Is there a price point you are aiming for with the VTI?

I'm glad you kept the case/cosmetics because it looks damn sexy!
