Bag End Club.

Hmm. Never tried my old WalkAbout with the Bag Ends... I need to do that. I prefer to keep it docked in the Scout 15 combo-cab, but it'd be fun to try. Most of the time I'm using either a Mesa D-800 or an Acoustic Image Clarus II with the Baggies.

How is your experience using the D-800 with the Baggies? Do you get enough volume? Do you get enough bottom end and punch?

Oops, sorry for the delayed reply...

Bottom end is spectacular. A good bit of the time I'm playing 5-strings, so that lower register is particularly important to me. Those two S15-D (and X-D) cabs are plenty. FWIW, I seldom do anything much with the EQ on the D-800 either... it's parked (mostly) at 12:00 settings with a little bit of the lows cut, and the voicing at just a bit above 'flat'.

More for anyone's curiosity than anything else. Id purchased on TB im sure, over ten years ago, ended up being a project cab. Thought I had resold it, but it turned up prior to previous resident’s home sale. Weird. Its an S10x on top of an INFRA 10. No internal processing or power. The infra m processor did sell, apparently. Anyway...

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but seems like with the efficiency of the BE cabs, they would match up well with lower wattage tube heads (like Ampeg V4B) & probably the Mesa Walkabout.
How many of you have gigged BE cabs with those?

Yep, my Q10X-D and a TC Electronic BH250 (4 pounds) make for a killer combination.

I should have raken a pic of my rig at yesterday's outdoor gig. Dual setup, a genzler 800 running lows into two s15d cabs, and another genzler 800 running highs to a 3rd s15d cab. What a tone!

Main gig-rig these days... an S15-D & S15X-D, most often paired with my Mesa D-800...

For upright gigs, (or practice) an Acoustic Image Clarus 2, with an S10-D is usually plenty.

So I picked up a used but seemingly unabused s15x-d off craigslist recently. Mainly from all the great reviews here on talkbass. I’ve been looking for a change in my rig here for a while and I’m thinking the bag end will do the trick. I’ve haven't taken it out on a gig yet but it’s sounding pretty good in my bedroom. Took me a while but I managed to find a regular s15-d to add to it. The gk/bag end combo seems to be a pretty popular combination and I’m really looking forward to the change. Plus I think I blew the speaker in one of my gk neo 112’s the other night anyway. I’ve got a gig this coming weekend in a small/medium sized bar and I’m thinking about taking one of the bag ends. I have a tilt back stand that I can use with it. Any recommendations on which one I should use in a stand alone situation. I always use my cabs with the tweeter completely turned off so I’m slightly apprehensive about the x version by itself. But I have found that turning the treble way down on the amp and maybe using the contour button (something I don’t usually do) seems to mitigate any unwanted zing from the tweeter. Anyway, here’s a pic of my setup so far. This is with my 400rb but it has a pretty prominent high end hiss that needs to be addressed before I can use it out in the real world whereas my 800rb is almost dead quiet.

Ahoy there. I'm thinking of trying that classic GK 800RB/Bag End cab combination (I just got the head yesterday), and [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] has sat on craigslist for a while in my area. I know that 18s have fallen out of favor, and even in their heyday they generally handled the lows in a bi-amped system, but how would this do as a stand-alone cab? I tune CGCF and GCGCF, and while I do like plenty of 1khz in my sound, I don't like much of anything above 3khz in it. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

I rock an 18 sometimes. It’s a lot of fun. Standalone it has plenty mids and even some surprising snap!

I liked a Peavey 18 with a Black Widow as a stand-alone cab years ago, but I also went for a different sound then. Sounds like this Bag End 18 deserves a test drive at least. Stay tuned.

I can't believe how good an old Eden amp sounds with Bag End cabs
I bought it as a backup. Nothing will replace my Mesa pre/di into Qsc power but this amp sounds really good,hehe

Been running this rig for bigger rooms and outdoors this summer. The speakers in the SWR were replaced with Genz Benz neo 10’s and the impedance ended up being 8ohms. A nice match with the BE S15D. The Quilter sounds deep and thick with these cabs, great for Americana!
