Right on. I had a D10N which I had to sell at a financially bad time. It was a cool cabinet but I didn’t really like the midrange as much as the 12s it always seemed a little scooped to me, especially in the high mids. Not a bad sound, just different. This current cabinet with the neo speakers is easier to move around than that 210 was!
Love to hear that rig. That Dynablock 400 is a great sounding classic.
I don't think my playing would do it justice. I like the Dynablock 400 for it's simple but effective EQ and it just seems to have lots of punch, even at lower volume, which sadly is how I play it most often.
If the neo speaker is simply a Faital 12PR300, hopefully they did not charge you $361, as that is about $120 over street price.
They didn’t, but it was more than I would have paid elsewhere. I wasn’t aware that’s what they were using until I got them. Very impressive speakers.
I do wonder which Faital neo speakers they are using in the S15 cabs now. I’m assuming the 15PR400?
Has Bag End ever used speakers other than their own? I’ve seen them make stuff for other manufacturers like SWR with the first iteration of the Baby Blue.
I have no idea. Just because something has a Bag End label on it, does not necessarily mean they actually made it.
This is the image they use for the E12F on their website...certainly looks a lot like a Faital 12PR300, except the label.

I would not be surprised if their other drivers were also made by an OEM.
I’ve seen a lot of their 15’s and never noticed this kind of exact similarity to anything else. Wow. But as long as it’s not made with slave labor I guess I don’t really care who makes it. It’s interesting though.
I will say that the 1x15 neo cab I A/B’d for 15 minutes or so (not really a fair test) did not seem to have the same kind of pleasant low mid of the S15 sitting next to it. Not bad at all but not what using S15’s for 20 years makes me think an S15 sounds like. Am unlikely to ever buy one.

So glad I was able to secure a pair of S15L-Ns before the switch over to neo. IMHO they are worth the 52lbs in gold.
Jim at BE mentioned that I could mount these super low end monster E12 speakers in an empty S15 to take advantage of the bigger box size. I was surprised that he said I could install what amounts to a ring of plywood in the baffle to reduce the hole size for the smaller speaker. I’m just wondering how secure that would be (the driver is 25 lbs), and how to do that.
That makes sense to me and probably wouldn't be too hard to implement once you have the ring. You just attach the ring to the speaker and crank the ring down with the four aluminum mounts, I would assume. I just did a quick Google search and there are plenty of adapters made for that purpose. Like this one. Or this.

Honestly, for the 12” not much at all. Maybe a tiny bit more low end on the neo, and to me the same amount of clarity. Standard E12 drivers have this really nice subtle break up when you push them really hard. I’m not sure if the neos do that. Overall I am very impressed with the neos.
Cool! I never would have thought of that. I’ll have to check it out. I’d prefer to move the aluminum mounts to the ring though. The super quick speaker change that those provide is fantastic.
The craziest thing happened. While I was looking for empty S12 or S15 boxes this local guy had a couple of cabinets for a ridiculous price. I guess addiction manifests in many ways! At least some addictions are healthier than others. On the upside, now I have eight speakers just like all of the really cool kids.
