Bag End Stack in the House!

I am not sure if Expo AV has a web page or not. The way I found them was through Ebay. I did a search for Bag End Bass. They showed up at the bottom of the page in the stores section. They had the D10BX-D with a price of $749 or something with a make offer next to it. I offered $625 and they took it. They have a phone number in the auction listings so you can call them too. They are located in TX in the Dallas area somewhere I think.

Here's a 2x15 in the large size cabinet:

The ports can each be covered by a neat looking piece of wood with the brand branded into it.

I'm sure some of you saw this for sale in the classifieds; no takers on it, I think I'll just keep it. More pics there if you do a search.

Pedro - I'm in Milwaukee, maybe I should show up to the GTG with this beast! I'll check out the thread and see when it is.

I use the same stack minus the tweeter. I love it for volume, but it does lack a little low end. Could someone explain why? Is it the frequency response? They only go down to 50HZ

Thanks

For me, the BE S15-D satck only lacks low end by itself. IOW, in a live/band situation, the stack sounds very full. And even outside the stack had more than enough bottom. Also, these cabs seem to be very, very sensitive to eqing. So just turning the bottom up a little on your amp or guitar should make a big difference.

I have a G&L L2ke and a Lakland Skyline Scheff. The tone of the L2ke is just downright punishing: Lots of bottom and growl. No bass boosting needed. But the Scheff is mid-heavy so I just boost the bass on my GK 1001RBII to about 1:00 and I'm good to go.

The Scheff, with Barts and strung with TI Flats, just shines through the BE's. Such a nice tone. Reminds me of The Average White Band or old Chicago. The L2ke sounds stupid good through anything. I could plug that bass into week old doggy-doo and it'd sound great.

I just got a Lakland 55-02 and my BE 15 stack sonds amazing with the right 5 string bass. My earlier concerns were with the low end, but the B string on the Lakland is great through the BEs, very even tone from all strings. The problem was with my old 5 string neckthrough.

Quick question for the Bag End'ers:

I really like what I've heard from these amps and I really dig the price, so I'm definitely looking into purchasing some of the cabs in the future. How do their 12" sound? I've heard a lot about the 15" but I'm a huge fan of the sounds i get out of 12" speakers. If I paired a 12" or two with a Mesa Walkabout head, would it sound much like the Walkabout Scout or any similar beefy midrange growl machines?

+1 to Expo AV. Something to note also - I ordered two S15D's so they gave me a really nice shipping discount - only got charged the shipping price for one unit. They stock them with the speakon connectors (S15's) which saves you some additional $$$ so factor that in when comparing prices.

:smug:

I run a D12 now and I use to run a S12 and S15 stack. The S12 was the best sounding cab to mic in the studio for me... I hope the D12 gives me similar results. I've never used a Walkabout so I have no reference point.

Hey folks. General question here. I'm reading that the S15's are a little lean in the low end. Would the classic S15X-D/S15-D stack then be comparable to using 2 12's in terms of quickness and freq. response?

I'm interested in a modular rig for rock/pop, most likely 2x112 or 2x115. How do the Bag Ends compare to:
Aggy DB 112
EA M-Line Wizzy
Berg HT112

So, if the Aguilars are called "Aggy's" why aren't the Bag Ends called "Baggy's"?

I A/B'ed my Bag End S-15 recently against my Eden 2x10 XST.
Could not believe how well the 15 held up aagianst the 2x10.
Like someone mentioned, the only big difference was the very low end,
the eden is designed for this. I've been pumping my active 5 thru
the Bag End for 10 years and it holds up great. Saw John Patitucci live using
Bag End and was sold after that.

that is the exact 2x15 Bag End cab that k had .. I dont know how many where made in that config.. Great Cab! Mine had JBLs in it at the time

You would be surprised at how the BE 15s dont sound like other 15s. To me they have alot more low-mid punch.
