I had this experience with two different fiddle bows, but not my bass bow.

^This. I stopped counting DB-less(according to profile )posters at 12. That was yesterday. BTW, my bass is now lying on it's side in the music room; played it several times yesterday.

After every pratice and gig, I clean the bass and put it in the case. I believe it's overkill but I am that picky about my gear.
