Band Photo...we need some ideas

My band is in it's 2nd incarnation and we need a new band photo.... The guys do not want a stage picture and I kinda agree there is too much dead space with stage pic and the players wind up too small.

So other than up against a wall or walking down railroad tracks... help me out.... any ideas?

We are a hard rock cover band.

if you have any friends in the police force, get one of all of you being arrested, or in a jail cell. or dressed in all black with some 80's style studs and chains and leather pants and stuff at a chuck e cheese. if you're good with photoshop, go to a cemetary, gather around the coolest looking headstone, then photoshop your band name and logo on it. go to your local liquor store and everybody pretend to be passed out while holding bottles. another one for photoshop, extreme close up of some cleavage with your band photoshopped on to look like it's tattoo'd on there.

What do you plan to use the photo for? Is it part of the promo package to try and get bar gigs? For your website? For FB/ReverbNation/SC/etc? I would urge you to consider the rationale for a photo and then consider the photo? Don't be a band with a solution in search of a problem :-) I would urge your band to solve the problem that is at hand. Something that is cool for the cover of a FB page may not be what you want to send to a bar or club manager.

I would recommend talking to any bar and/or club managers you can and find out whether they would prefer a stage shot or a professional promo shot. In addition, once you get past the first view, find out if they will or won't look at a video - either on a supplied DVD or off the band's web site.

Also, I would recommend a thorough review of all on line materials including band members personal pages and make sure there is nothing off-putting on them. They don't need to get to a band member's FB page only to find pictures of them passed out at a party etc.

I would highly recommend doing your due dilegence. I believe the hard investigative work will put your band in the best light. Your competition as a cover band is probably significant. Give yourself every chance and no excuses for not getting a gig.

Just my thinking.

OK, follow me on this one: One 8x10 consisting of 4 individual frames, each frame has a shot of the band playing in the background with the only difference is the audience: First frame has 3-4 standing audience members, next frame has 15-20 people standing/dancing, next frame has a full-on crazy dance floor, next frame no audience just a single passed out dude on dance floor.
