Once a studio monitor is put in place, it generally stays there. You're not schlepping it from gig to gig. I think it's way more important for PA companies to use lighter speakers more efficiently than it is us, but even I, a diehard SVT 810 fan since 1978, have to use lighter stuff on a day to day basis. I do see a fair amount of neo cabs being used in Bass World, but I opted for smaller cabs with ceramic magnets because I'm not quite as happy with the neo cabs I've played thru as I am the ceramics.Makes me wonder. I am always torn between studio and live gig environment. I have yet to see a high class studio monitor aiming to get lighter in weight in order to sound better. If anything, it's quite the opposite. My Neumann KH310 weigh 13kg (28,6 lbs) per unit and it really is among the lightest units in that price range.
Can you please elaborate on this a bit? Not trying to provoke or anything, just a fair question out of curiosity.
