bass fake to get chicks.

There is this band in the scene that I have played with a few times. Every time I watch their set it drives me nuts. Their bassist dosnt really play. There is a back track that has the bass parts in it. He just jumps around and trys to look cool and every once in a while remember that he is supposed to be pretending to play.

As is the case with Sid Vicious, and that guy is like, a punk icon for some reason...

You WANT to be in a relationship but not get laid? I would not wish such a burden on even my greatest enemy....

HAHA I lolled...

but seriously though that would be pretty cruel.

This is not my experience at all. My fiancee is an artist and the most pinky-down low maintenance girl Ive ever seen!

The thing with arty chicks is that theyre usually so different to normal girls and other arty chicks and thus cant be represented as a group easily... aaaaaaand you know what? I don't know where I'm going with this, and on that bombshell, I'll end this post. Thank you.

Booyah. My fiancee is an artist too and she is ultra chilled and tolerant of my silliness. Hard low maintenance. I think its cuz they have to look after themselves and be self-motivated or-else nothing gets done. And thats somehow correlated with low maintenance...

Or maybe we're just the lucky ones??? :ninja::p

Maybe its luck... or maybe its that I have a HUGE uh... bank account ;)

So I met this guy (lets call him john). Anyway we were hanging out at his house and saw this squier and amp sitting in the corner of his living room.

I said "I didn't know you play bass, maybe we can jam some time"

to wich he responds, "oh I don't play bass."

so of coarse I asked why he had a set up.

his response, "well I picked it up at a garage sell for 80 bux, and I just keep it in the living room to impress girls when they come over."

me - "what if they ask you to play for them."

him - "I usually make up an excuse such as the neighbors complain."

now is it just me or does this just make to much sense.

A+ post

Okay, boys, I have to put in my two cents...

No, I guess I don't because I don't count. If I was the chick it would impress me, but I would definitely end up wanting to talk about gear.

On the other hand, being a bassplayinggirl... I get the impression that men think it's hot, but they are too afraid of me to do anything about it.

I play bass and the girls love it, but the charming personality and muscles and six pack might help just a little :D
i love being able to say im a bassist, girls actually love it, but then agian im 15 and most girls dont know what a bass is :hmm:

The have a word for that. It's called "entertaining". Sometimes it's called "putting on a show".

If the audience likes it, then it's not a problem, right?

low enders get chicks? lol

Obviously, girls are surprisingly good at math.

Deadbeat w/ a living room's cash ($3kish?)
minus
$1500ish Fender bass and suitable amp head/stack
=$1500 or less for the girl
versus
Deadbeat w/ a living room's assets ($3kish?)
minus
$80 Squier w/ identical Fender looks and amp
=$2820 or less for the girl

That difference shows potential, maybe even for an engagement ring; of course chicks are going to dig on your low-end stuff ;)

when I was in high school this guy heard I was into dating musicians (not true). So he tells me he played bass. I thought it was cool. I mean he had a bass..it was an ugly handpainted neon colored bass. He also had a 15 speaker cab. I remember running my hands on the strings thinking how on earth one can play one. But he never played for me. He gave me a tape with two songs his band recorded but I soon noticed one of the songs had a crackling sound in it..yes. it was a recording from a record.
He finally admitted he didn't play in that one song but insisted he did on the other.
I ended up marrying that $#@$%& liar and still never heard him play.
Years later we divorced. Guess who really ended up.playing bass and jammed with a band? yep yours truly! He saw me on stage once and told my friend I didn't move enuff on stage. Um Walk Softly by Kentucky Headhunters is country for one. You don't headbang to it. another that stage isn't big enuff.

Two things from this week:
1. On Wednesday, I had my Fender in school (I was doing stuff afterwards) and walke dinto my maths class with it. Two of my friends were singing "Living on a Prayer", and as I'm gonna be playing it with the 11th Grade band, decided to accompany them, acoustically. But with the time it took to take the bass out of the bag, they'd finished up and left, leaving me alone in the room with the girl I'm more or less head-over-heels for (but I fear is about to hook up with my guitarist) and my P. So I start grooving on a slight variation to "War Pigs", which in my mind looks pretty impressive. That's if you like the sound of un-amped strings clattering about... At this point my drumemr walks by the door, sees the two of us and smirks. I haven't been able to escape it for the rest of the week, nor will I for the forseeable future (especially if she gets with the guitarist...).

2. On Friday I was with band #2 (soon to be band #1, since I actually enjoy playing with these guys...) playing in the drummer's garage and having a few drinks. A couple of girls from school turned up. Now, they're both in relationships, so no matter how much rum I put in their rum and cokes I was getting nowhere, but it's still interesting to see how they reacted to us playing. We get going on "With or Without You" and turn it into a nice long, flowing epic. All the way through, these two girls were transfixed by the guitarist/singer. The drummer and myself didn't get the slightest bit of recognition, even if they were sa in front of my amp...

bass = not conducive to attracting women, really, hate to break it to ya, but it DOESN'T WORK.

What DOES work, is confidence, humour, and yes, money. if you come off as confident, interesting, and funny, then she's probably going to respond. if all else fails, money. Seriously though, confidence and a sense of humour, if you can fake that you're in! Some gigs I'd get as many as five numbers, one time I ran out of paper, and armspace, and some girl wrote her name on my chest!

I HAVE found that playing ukulele really helps. I carried my homemade cigar box ukulele around with me at school, I could start playing a song, and by the end be surrounded by about eight chicks! Okay, there were guys too, but seriously, eight!

yea but I always found myself attracted to the bass player. I had a crush on one in high school (which is probably where my ex heard I only dated musicians)..was in love with one a few years ago, messed with two after that and my boyfriend now is a bassist.
And it does work sometimes. When I first got my bass, in which I didn't know how to play, I posed with it and put on My space and got a few "groupies" emailing me cause they thought it was hot a chick that played bass.
