In my experience BSO has been right on the ball and great with both delivery times and communication.
On multiple occasions Jason has gone above and beyond for me, ordering items that he normally doesn’t carry and giving a great deal as well. (On top of the TB discount.)
For me, that type of service makes up for the occasional delay for an item that isn’t in stock, or a lack of daily updates.
After an order everyone gets a message sent every hour until delivery that says, "Your order is important to us, we will ship as soon as all items are made available. Thank you for using Bass Strings Online."I'm considering sending automated message saying we are working on it or something. Haven't decided.

Just like when on hold for a Customer Service Call Center.![]()
Just wanted to throw my two pennies in and say that Jason has always been very available and responsive with regards to customer service, even if BSO doesn't always send the standard form "your order is placed/shipped/backordered/in limbo" emails.
I spent a couple years in college ordering from BSO while I was moving from dorm to dorm, and Jason was always happy to make sure the shipping was taken care of through multiple address changes (at one point I think I even placed an order to the wrong address, and he happily fixed my mistake after the fact).
BSO is a great company run by a dude who clearly cares about his customer bass (!) and the level of attention he puts into that service speaks for itself, and to me that's important.
Jut for "balance" I'll chime in and say I only ever buy strings from BSO. Jason ships to Australia faster than some of our local retailers and cheaper. Always quick to respond to messages.
Anytime I’m after something light enough to mean that the cost of shipping across the globe doesn’t get out of hand, I’ll check out BSO.
This thread had been great publicity. Your web address is now in my favorites
this thread reminded me...SLaPiNFuNK, what ever happened with ORDER BASS-80529? did they ever ship them to you?
Ugh... La Bella has been a challenge. Still waiting. I follow up with them every other day and it's "we're working on it”
I’ve purchased strings before with Jason but how do you note that you are a TB member? There is no free lunch. It's a give and take.
I deal with Jason some. Here's what I have found.
You get great prices and personal customer service. Jason goes out of his way to work with particularly TB members. That's the good.
The bad is that BSO is a small operation. They simply can't send you an update all the time. They also sometimes will order from the manufacturer something they don't have in stock. That will hold things up. (Happened to me with a set of tuners.... but I wasn't in a hurry.)
The way you are dealing with BSO is acceptable to me. I prefer supporting a small operation that looks out for us.
But, I also understand that I might have to swing by a local store and grab a set of strings if I let my stock get low before ordering from BSO.
Also, you are not paying retail at GC. For instance, MSRP for a set of standard D'Addario XL bass strings is $40.25. You won't even pay that at a local mom n pop. Guitar Center price is $19.99.
I will continue to order from BSO and if I need to I'll swing by and grab a set locally to hold me over.
If you force BSO to email you every other day for an update their prices will go up to pay for the staff to handle that.![]()
