John Paul Jones used a Burns sixer early on, not sure about Jet Harris I thought he used a detuned Fender Jaguar as well as a Fender Bass VI.

I ordered mine from wammiworld and I just put my Warwick $$ 5-string in a local shop this morning for the install. Bronson Guitar Works in Scottsdale, Arizona quoted me $125-150 to install and will have it done middle of next week.
The unit I got is built on a 6-string base frame with 4 springs instead of 3. Wammi J. told me this is better because in the '80s, there were no downtuned, heavy string 5ers, so 3 springs were fine. But now, the extra mass and spring are needed to counter the tension of modern strings and tunings on 5-string basses and up. Fortunately, the MM pickups on the $$ are wide enough to look balanced with the extra-wide Kahler.
Can't wait til next week to play with my new toy!

They carve a huge hole in your bass- dont do it to a vintge bass unless it's already been modified (I did mine long before the internet and Gibson's were worth anything)
A sloppy job here but still shows how much wood needs to be removed. Also if the person does not remove enough wood the trem's travel will be limited.

How's the warlock? I have heard that unless you get one of those $1k+ guitars/basses that B.C. Rich is horrible.
Wrong, my son had a Warlock platinum and it was a great sounding & playing bass for $400. The only downside was it was very heavy.

Here's Les Claypool making good use of the Kahler on his Medium scale Carl Thompson four string. The synch is going astray but nevermind that, listen to what he's doing before Buckethead's guitarsolo starts, bona fide dive bombs with no problems whatsoever.
"Tommy the cat" live Claypool once again makes good use of the Kahler in this rendition and during the "Awakening" solo.
He also has a second Thompson bass with a Kahler but with locking tuners to keep things in tune.

That one is a USA Custom (and a unique one, at that, I am told) and it has about every option available. I like it a lot, but to be honest, it's not a bass I would play on every tune at a gig. We cover a lot of ground, and for some of it, the Warlock just rules.

make no mistake about the kahler though...it certainly adds some weight to the bass. those things are HEAVY!!!

I guess this could be. I don't find my Kahler equipped Cirrus to be much heavier than a regular Cirrus as the ABM bridge is pretty close to being as heavy.
That's for sure, but that's also a good thing for adding sustain and girth... Oh yeah, mine's going into a Warwick $$ - with those humbuckers full out, I don't think I'm lacking sustain and girth!
