bassist confessional.

No goatee, no hats, and I'm the skinniest guy in the band...

Notorious head bobber, user of the "bass face", and generally hang in the background.

Run the PA, mix the recordings, and attempt to fix everyone elses broken electrical equipment - but I guess that is the price of being an electrical engineer.

All of the above except "run the PA"(We all use BOSE PAS systems)
For really LARGE gigs, QSC's and ACME's come out to play...
Also obtain, listen to, and sometimes learn tunes that are intolerable EXCEPT for the bass line or TONE.
Prefer to have my own 20A power circuit and feed "my"(?) stuff with a 12 gauge extension cord....
Bought wireless due to it's specs on the low end
Bring a ZOOM H4 to every gig, cut/EQ/post-on-Putfile the best ones of the gig

Stereotypes
<<<overweight>>>>>got it
<<<Goatee>>>>>>>>got it (was wondering why I grew it)
<<<the verbally quiet one>>>got it
<<<bass face>>>>>> got one of those too
Non stereo types
<<< gear hog>>> not really but i do own three amps now so I guess you guys got me headed there
<<< music theory>>>> what's that I play by ear
<<< rational >>>>>>>> well I'm better now than when I usedd to be
<<< Hats>>>> I save mine for the boat cuz it looks too much like the guitar players and he wore his first.

Have a Real Day-Job: Check

Pretty funny how we all seem to fill these roles.. as for hiding in the background (HELL NO).. I'm right up front, singing harmonies & shakin' my ass... and as for being shy (Another NO) PS.. ladies love double-bass far more than any other instrument...

I know the most theory in the band
I'm the best at packing gear
I'm the tallest at a wopping 5'8"
I can pack anything into any vehicle (my '93 honda accord)
I understand groove and how to not play
I tell our guitarist he's playing too white (see below)

but im not all steriotypes
I'm the white guy in the band
I'm satisfied with my tone (for rock stuff)
The drummer is the soundman of the band
I truely enjoy my drummer
No go-tee
No hats

That's just a few

I've been known to soundcheck my amp with several bars of flamboyant slap bass WHATEVER gig I'm on. Folk, background dinner jazz, it doesn't matter, I peddle my chops like a corner-dwelling street walker. I've also commited the cardinal sin of actually sticking a lit cigarette into the strings on my headstock. What a tard.

Cheers,
Jamolah
