I'll bite. So many greats listed, but, I wonder if Ray Shulman was mentioned. Gentle Giant, possibly thee progressive-rock wiz band.
In this clip Shulman switches to violin around 11:15. Then to acoustic guitar around 31:00. He was expert at several instruments. Sang his ass off too.
Had never seen Gentle Giant live (or this clip) until a week ago.
Fwiw, brother Derek Shulman (lead singer) later became a major A&R guy, then record Exec, and achieved great success with Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Bad Co, Nickelback etc..

Pete is a groove monster! I try to see the New Mastersounds whenever the come to Boston.
Almost any Canterbury bass player for that matter. Hopper; Sinclair; Greaves, to name a few. And the French counterpart extending to the Zeuhl's Jannick Top.
One I enjoy and somewhat admire is Scott Thunes. I don't know why, he seems to be neglected over here. Whenever I watch the "does humor belongs in music?" live, I get blown away by this cat. He is Mr. Precision on all senses of the word.

He played with and produced Ike & Tina Turner, played with Bobby Womack and Leon Ware among others, and was in Invalid Link Removed. But I know him for playing with Iggy Pop.
Not to be confused with the younger man by the same name, currently active out of Memphis.
There is this one portrait of Clark, from the album artwork for Iggy Pop's "New Values" (probably Pop's best, and one of my favorite albums ever):
But now I see there is this group photo of The Family Vibes, in which Jackie Clark looks to be standing in the center wearing the red, sleeveless onesie and the wide brim hat:

Subject seems almost too easy: The first name that came to mind, Tiago Coimbra, has only been mentioned one other time on TB (...and that was by me, so it doesn't count).

Kotaro Tsukada a.k.a. Peelander Red from Peelander-Z. I mean, c'mon, look at that style. It's great to see a bassist with such a cosmopolitan sense of fashion. Supremely fashion forward. Not everyone can pull off that much red.
Not many upright players mentioned, so I'm going to throw Danny Thompson into the mix.
Marvellous player, contributed to so much great music over the years, going back to John Mayall and including John Martyn, Richard Thompson and literally too many others to mention. The list on the wikipedia article is lengthy.
